Many of the replies to the question of Jesus being married state that if he was and had sex with his wife he would have some how stopped being pure. Why is sex impure? If it is so terrible then why does the most amazing thing in the world - new life - come from it? Sex between a loving couple is an expression of love, so why would Jesus (hypothetically) sleeping with his wife to express his love and create new life be so impure?

Isn't it interesting that the people that claimed it was impure in the other question appear to be hesitant to answer this one...

In order to answer this question, you must understand Mosaic Law. Assuming you are a Christian, you accept Jesus never sinned and was the only human being perfect enough to keep all the Laws given through Moses (known as the Mosaic Laws). This factor qualified Him to be our perfect sacrifice. It also qualifies Him to be humanity's Judge in the future.

Leviticus 15 declares at verse 18 that: "... when a woman lies with a man, and there is an emission of semen, they shall bathe in water, and be unclean until evening." This Law applies to married AND unmarried men. Had Jesus ever married and had sex, He would have broken this Law. Read the entirety of Leviticus 15 for greater understanding.

The point of the Law was to show human kind how sinful they are, and how badly they needed a Savior. While sex between married partners isn't a sin for NT believers, it did result in "ritual impurity" for OT believers. As I mentioned above, Jesus is the only one who kept the Law perfectly, including this one.

I hope this helps. Peace.

Sex is not impure. God created it. From Genesis we know that God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and mulitply. The problem is that we have taken God's gift of sex and trampled on it. The Bible specifically states that we are to flee sexual immorality (I Corinthians 6:18, I Thessalonians 4:3, and many others) In the King James, "fornication" is the word used for sex that is being had wrongly. This would include premarital sex and extra-marital sex (adultery). Also, God calls sex between like sexes an abomination (Romans 1:26-27). Concerning married sex, between man and woman, that is what God intends. I Corinthians 7:9 states, "For it is better to marry than to be aflame with passion and tortured continually with ungratified desire." (Amplified Bible). In other words, instead of burning with lust, then get married. There's the issue, Jesus did not lust, because "he who looks upon a woman lustfully has committed adultery with her in his heart." Jesus never sinned, so lust would not drive Him to marriage. I think the real problem is not with the impurity of sex, but that the Bible mentions no spouse for Jesus. And the Bible also states that he who finds himself a good wife finds a good thing. I believe that Jesus would have wanted us to know if He were married and yes, if He had of been married He would have had sex, because He thought it was awesome in the right relationship. He created it!

I agree, there is nothing impure about consuming a marriage. Even if he would have enjoyed it, having sex with his wife, that alone would be considered as an impure thought. Why aren't people allowed to enjoy sex with their loved ones? Ridiculous, after all he was human too, of the same flesh and blood as millions of others, although many people don't think so.

I don't believe its about simply keeping Jesus pure in a sexual sense. I think it is a means to keep him thoroughly viewed as a God and never truly a man. Frankly only a God could live as long he did and not have any type of sexual contact with someone or himself.
As for why is sex impure? It is not impure. The only logical reason I can think of for demonising sex is to make sure we work more than just what is necessary to survive instead of having sex every spare second. Think about it.

Bible says it is good to marry, don't listen to these people marriage is not impure, The bible calls the church 'wife' and he is the husbandman, marrying is not impure, but the apostle paul did say it is good and exceptable even good for a christian not to marry, cause then the focus is solely on God and not on keeping or pleasing the partner, who i assume can turn you from God. But he also said it is good, and that a time will come when men will rise who will preach against marriage, paul declares that preaching a sin. God invented sex.

We simply don't know if Jesus was 'married' or if had sexual realtions with women, there is overwhelming evidence that this Jewish guy 'Jesus' (which is latin for Joshua) did definitely exist. There are theories that he did have children....but they are just theories, he certainly did have a close relationship with Mary Magdeline ( who was not the whore that the early church led us to believe.....something which the Roman Catholic Church was happy to perpetuate untill recently) The Bible has had many editors & contributors & has gone through a lot of translation. A lot of it has been left out becuase it suited the purpose, or manipulated by the Papacy later. Take the dead sea scrolls for example. There is also a Gospel according to mary, but it is not in the bible. If Jesus was married, there is no mention of it in the bible, but I don' think this would change any theory behind the Son of God theory, if you believe it. The Church generally teaches that sex should between a man & women who is in union (married if you like). I would like to think that jesus might have been married, possibly to Mary Magdaline, but we don't know.

God created sex so that man and woman could reproduce..."be fruitful and multiply." It's sex outside of marriage that is impure, and because that happens so often in today's society (and back then), sex has earned a bad reputation.

Also, there are a lot of consequences involved with having sex. STD's, pregnancy, emotional damage (in cases of rape and regret), etc. Sex has become a powerful tool that many people take advantage of. But within marriage, it's a beautiful thing.

Sex in marriage(husband and wife) isn't impure.
Hypothetical debates are a waste of time on a non-issue subject.

This is the thing with the Judao/ Christian religeons, sex is seen as "unholy" and only to be experienced in Marriage. Other religeons do not have such evil life denying bullsh*t, Hinduism celebrates sexuality, Buddism ignores it as not worth making a fuss about and the Japanese with Shintoism makes sex into a big giggle. I blame St Paul, he did not like sex and did not like himself as a result. F**K Christianity, that's what I say, It has produced more human misery than anything else I can imagine.

I'm pretty sure that is just a Catholic thing. I would have been ok if somewhere in the Bible it said that Jesus was married. If anything, it would have served as an example of the perfect marriage, but then again, Jesus' real pure and spotless bride is the church (It is in Ephesians, I think..).
