The Bible is trash.
The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.
When people quote various passages from the Bible, for example ...
Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.
What happens? Religious people pop up from under every stone with the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, or we’ve changed the meaning, or wrong interpretation, or we’ve changed the context, or the quotes are out of context or or or, excuse after excuse.”
The fact is, they are Bible quotes, and the Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up, yet seem happy to drum into the minds of gullible little children. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.
If religious people are unable to apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then perhaps they could strip out of the Bible the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. Granted there will not be a lot left to read, but at least religious people may end up with a decent moral code to follow based on good, and not scare the living daylights out of innocent little children.

No it's not. The first couple of books are a really interesting story about how the world might have got made, and a great legend about a wandering tribe escaping from slavery. Then there's some pretty dry stuff about kings and laws, then there are the ranty threat bits which are pretty funny if you don't take them seriously, then there's one bit of fabulous love poetry (Song of Songs), then there's the guy in the whale (Jonah) and the guy who got the really bad life (Job), then there's more ranting and then the spectacular sci-fi apocalypse (Revelation).
Then there's the stuff about Jesus, which is very interesting because while I like him personally, none of the guys writing about him can agree with each other about exactly what he did and said. The rest I find pretty dull.

The Bible is the good book because it is truth, Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. The Bible helps you live in your day to day. What is so hard about following the ten commandments? The Bible tells the truth and tries to help you avoid mistakes because life is not easy and punishment is real.

Those are not threats, those are choices based on truths. Good is just the same as "righteous." God's truths are absolute. WE can like it or NOT, but our like or dislike will not change it.
Keep in mind, if the Bible is filled with CHOICES and I CHOOSE to follow it, what keeps me IN LINE...it or ME? I have full control over my choices. Do you not? If I LIKE and LOVE the things I choose and I abhor and revolt against the things I despise, what does FORCE have to do with it. I CHOOSE it because I CHOOSE IT over all else. The things you call "threats to keep you in line' are precepts and ideas which work in the world and I LOVE them.
There is NO force in Christianity. IF you are forced to do something, then your heart is WRONG and God judges by the HEART not the forced deeds you despise.

Simple translation; the word "holy" means good, and "bible" means book. I'm not Judeo-Christian, and I don't mean to attack you or anyone in particular, but my problem is when people simply say "the bible" without realizing that they are basically claiming it is "the book", as in the only important (or perhaps existing) book. At least capitalize it so people can be sure you are speaking of a specific religious text.

Because it is the Good Book, it contains valuable life living information, to nourish us, and to sustain us from an eternal inferno. It contains the everlasting love, and compassion that God felt for His creation.
When I read the Bible I see God's plan for the human race, and the way He intended it to be, and the way it will finally be.
When you read the Bible you only see the destruction that man caused.
I see the whole concept.

I call it the Good Book because despite everything, it has taught me that God is love. Don't ask me how...I guess I have been wise to focus on the red print words (what Jesus actually said).
The God I worship is a God of love and I leave the rest for the theologians to argue over.
Peace to you and thank you for asking this question.

It's not "threats to keep you in line"; it's warnings of what will happen if you don't stay away. Am I threatening my little boy when I tell him to stay away from the oven so he won't get burnt?

Assuming you own one, try actually reading it.
Start in John.
Look at Galatians and Ephesians.
Try and find "threats".
