I've answered this same question so many times I'm thinking of starting a website...

Hell is not taught in the Bible. It was borrowed from those other religions by apostate Christendom to scare people into doing what the church said, even if that deviated from the Bible's teachings.

If you were a parent and your child was misbehaving, would you put their hand on a hot stove to punish them? Of course not. That would be horrible. You might give them a 'time-out' in the corner, though.

God doesn't torment people forever for the sins of just a few years. That doesn't make sense, and it isn't in the Bible. God does give people a 'time-out' though, in the form of just being dead. False Christianity has turned so many people off religion by adopting man-made traditions and wrong teachings. Thankfully, they'll pay for their sins soon.

No, when I read the passages I read of a loving, caring God, that wants us to be our best, and to follow the teachings of Christ. I find a Savior, that loved us so much He gave up His life in order that I might live. I find strength, love, compassion, and a good way of life.

If I follow those teachings, I have no fear of the eternal hellfire.

No- you should probably read it with a bit more of an open mind. We are not forced to believe in God- otherwise, why do we have a will of our own? We were never made to be fearful, or mindless

All the best

No. What sums it up is we are to kiss butt for all eternity on a super being that slaughters children and entire races during its temper tantrums, or that sweetie will fry us like french fries for all eternity. It's hell either way. In one, you spend eternity telling a super-duper-Saddam Hussein how good looking and perfect he is, on the other you roast. It's nice to know it's just the fevered fantasy of the deluded either way.

There are also descriptions of hell in the Vedic scriptures. And not just one hell - many varieties. But God is all merciful - He never condemns someone to eternal hell - a long time maybe, be not eternally. One goes to hell based on one's actions, not beliefs. But then again actions are based on beliefs. The three gateways to hell are lust, anger and greed. To rise above these you must rise above the bodily concept of life, and realize that you are part and parcel of God.

That about sums it up. Where's this loving compassionate god I've heard people mention? He doesn't appear to be the one in the bible does he?

I'll take hellfire over praising some insecure malevolent deity for eternity.

The Bible talks about Hell more than it does Heaven. Men have not made up hell, God made hell, but not initially for mankind. God made hell for the Lucifer(now more commonly known as Satan) and his angelic followers when they revolted against God in Heaven. When sin entered the world through Adam and Eve, it grieved God, but He still offered forgiveness and grace to those who would follow HIm. To those who would reject Him, hell became their eternal destination. Jesus said, "I am the Way the Truth and the Life, and no man comes unto the Father but by Me." The Bible also tells us that, "Christ died for all not wanting any to perish, but for all to come to repentance." That word perish has to do with eternal separation from God in a place the Bible calls Hell. By the way, it's not believing in God that saves you....even the demons believe in tremble. It's in accepting Jesus Christ, His Son that saves you from Hell.

Not the Jewish bible.

Christians invented hell (formerly known as Hades) after the Greeks, Romans and Paul got together.

Not all passages, some are just flithy tell-all sex records like: Jimbob begat moab and moab begat raybab who begat shushu and dingdang........and on and on and on.
But, yes the whole turn or burn thing is the main idea of the bible.
