I have had mono now for almost a month. I am feeling totally better. All of my symptoms are gone and I do not feel drained anymore. Basically I feel about as normal as possible right now. I have been sleeping a lot and taking vitamins. My dr. told me to wait 2 months before getting back into the gym and being involved in strenuous activities. This seems a little lengthy compared to everything else I have read. Is there anything I need to look out for in the mean time? Just looking for advice from people who have had this before.

It may seem long -- but it isn't. Mono may lurk in your system for months before you feel the symptoms of it or vice versa. Though you may feel better it is advised not to jump back into your normal routine of things. Mainly in order to prevent rupturing your spleen through strenuous activity.

ive had like.2 friends and a couple family members get it and the worst thing that can possibly happen is a relpse. u dont want this coming back on you, it will totally bite u in the rear. do what doc says and lie low, and take it easy. when u start in the gym, slowly work ur way back to what u were doing. u cant just jump right in, u have to build up again.

Your doctor is right. If you go to the gym too soon your spleen could rupture. You should wait another month or two and see the doctor again to get the OK.

yeah it sucks, but you really should wait before doing any physical activity besides just simple running and stuff like that. your spleen stays enlarged for a while, and if you bang it it could rupture or you could have internal bleeding...not good. i had it and i couldnt work out or go to six flags for a while after. keep it easy for a bit.

I would take his advice. My sister had it and she didn't listen and she got sick again and it was worse than the first time she ended up in the hospital and before it was over had missed a month of work.
