Just venting my frustration, today I resigned from my 2nd job. I can no longer bare watching an idiot (my boss) shouting at young children whenever to step a toe out of line. I've never seen a group of 2-4 year olds sit in total silence for an hour everyday listening to stories . It's so unnatural. I see boarderline intimidation & mental abuse. When I voice my fears I am fobbed of with "I can not have chaos" The children like me a lot, I sing their favourite songs, they sing and laugh BUT are told "Be Quiet" They cry and reach out to me, I am told to put them down. No love. Accusations of the most serious matter are thrown around like cheap insults, I am the gayest puff I know (a real one, not some mentalist with hangups & I have a gorgeous man),However, I was accused of tickling & patting a girls bottom, it was hard to deny seems I push the children into shark filled puddles & pretend to put them in the bin. Now I am thinking of working in a new field, sad I thought I was perfect.

i have a 2 year old and she is at a sitter who babysits in her home.. and if i EVER found out that she was being treated that way i would freak!!!
I can't believe that a child care centre would handle children in that way.. i have frined's/family who work in the day care system in my area and they all say that they are very warm and frinedly environments.. WITH LOVE... i can understand a care centre having concern for patting a child's bottom, but sometimes there is a fine line that they may have just THOUGHT you crossed.. and in thoes instances all you can do is jsut bit your lip and take it, calls like thoes are bound to be called and its only for the child's best intrest, i know at home i end up touching my daughter's bottom (not intentionally but rather jsut becasue she's sooooo squirmy, its bound to happen) so don't be upset abotu them making that call.. and know that not all care centres deal with children in such a strict manner, and jsut try to keep applying. It sounds like you genuinly care fro your job and enjoy it, and if you can find a centre that promotes love and concern for the children's feelings. then i'm srue you'll be great!
Good luck inthe future, and try not to get upset.

Well whom ever your boss is needs to have a reality check they are babies not soldiers. There is a teaches in the center I work at that is that way and it drives me crazy and it got to point that I told her that they are babies and she has too high expectations for these children. The lady you worked with needs to realize that these children I am not sure with the children you have or had in your classroom are low income or come from bad homes or are special need's children but mine are anyway sometimes school is the only place these children get love or away from the yelling and fighting from home and a place they can be a kid. Maybe she needs to think of either a new profession and if she has a teaching degree maybe she needs to be in another age group like middle school or high school. I am here to tell you that the way you described what you did was wonderful and great and you did nothing wrong. You did a A++++ job. Thanks for such a great job. Good luck maybe you can find a new job working with children.

when you work with children you are walking a very fine line ... you cuddle a child or pat them anywhere you can be sued ....as you will be classed as a pervert (one of the reason that people who play father Christmas don't have little ones on there lap any more) and I'm sorry but children do need to learn to sit quietly and listen to stories as long as they are asked questions ... the person reading it can ask a child to point out what is happening in the picture ...get them to guess what happens next it helps with reading skills along with looking.thinking and listening... and yes we are badly paid because its the government who pay ... and do you honestly think parents would pay ? the answer to that is no the amount of people i meet who want there child looked after but don't want to pay up ..that i know make them pay up front ... I'm also sorry that you feel you need to leave a job that you love maybe you will find another place which is more suited to you

there are a number of greater instructors and childcare workers than there are entertainers. instructors are surely fairly properly paid while in comparison with the person-friendly salary in maximum states. human beings can purely discover the money for to pay a undeniable volume earlier it is going to become greater value-effective for one parent to stay residing house and raise the youngsters. Its a query of economics. If it expenses you greater to have somebody to shelter your infants than what one better half earns then that better half ought to stay residing house to shelter the youngsters

Just be the best you can be with whatever you choose to do. Be true to your own principles. Child care is undervalued all over the world because it has traditionally been "women's work". This is simply one of the many injustices and inequities that exist in the world.
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!

To be honest, whilst I appreciate that childcare is important, I think that doctors, nurses, teachers, etc are much more important. They're badly paid too. It's just the way of the world.

For the same reason teachers aren't paid well. Like the above answerer, stupid people don't think it's important.
