consider natural ways then, if you're not going to do the med thing.
See a nutritionist in order to alter your diet (do you eat lotsa salt? Do you add salt to your dinner? if so, cut down).
Consider massage therapy...while having a massage, blood pressure MAY increase temporarily...however, when you're getting regular massage, after the treatment you may notice your BP decreases as you're decreasing stress hormones in your body. Check out the research on the net about massage therapy and hypertension!
Also consider exercising more...stop smoking...or smoke LESS if you're not into that idea.
Remember it is your body and you have to keep it well. Hypertension can lead to much more serious complications (as I'm sure you're aware), so keep on top of it...right now, that's considered in the lower range of hypertension...so it's great that you're diagnosed at the earlier stage...that means you may be able to really help lower it by lifestyle alone.
Good luck and keep that BP within a normal range! aim for below 140/90 :) (normal is around 120/80...as I'm sure your doctor told you)

You are borderline...my doc wanted to put me on meds for that. She gave me a few months to see if I could control with with diet and exercise...you know what? It did the trick. My BP is now 130/80. I just walk half an hour every day and eat better...destressed a lot too.
You really should give up the smoking. That is hardening your arteries, putting all that goop into your arteries and lungs which makes both lungs and heart have to work harder which is damaging everything including your veins. You could live with something like 70 percent blockage of your veins and not even know it until a chunk of that plaque breaks off and goes to your heart and you have a heart attack.
Start taking care of your health....your body is the temple to your soul....you won't have a soul without a body you know? And believe me you won't be very happy when you have to quit and give it all up because your body is so diseased that you are a walking time bomb. Your BP is a warning that you are heading into the danger zone, so heed it before it's too late.

That is borderline. Normal blood pressure is 120/80. Anything over 140/90 is considered high, so see your doctor.

Don't let the docs put you on meds until they have checked on your adrenal glands, and blood supply to the kidneys.
