This is something I have always wondered my self. My cousin was deaf and blind, but at least she could see before a botched operation. She was able to listen to the radio by feeling the vibrations given off. She could listen/talk to you and had the ability to think etc. like anyone else. In fact she went to school and got a education and was able to type. I also know a fellow who used to perform (singer & dancer) for deaf audiences and he said it was remarkable that they somehow could hear the music etc. I also attended a performance of a deft dance company and they were outstanding.
I often wondered how a blind person perseves color.

Although people are deaf they can feel vibrations etc. I guess they process thoughts based on what they see or feel. It isn't in thoughts and words, although they can learn to read and write too, so I imagine they can process thoughts with words, except I really don't know how they would "hear" the words they read.

I'm sure they can interpret them but I think that they "think" with their "vision". Perhaps they see WORDS when they think, or sights. Unless one was born that way you would really never know. And I guess one never really will know just how your mind "sees/hears" things when you are deaf or even blind for that matter, because I believe we think based on all our senses combined.

Hearing is just something that doesn't exsist to them, that part of their brain fails to delvelope. There was a study done on cats, where they put a blindfold over baby cats for the first couple months of their lives, since the part of their brains ment for sight never developed, they were completely unable to see, even though they had eyes to do it.

People who are deft just don't hear themselves at all, although it's hard for us who can hear to comprehend.
