Well if you knew my fiancé this would sound romantic. We were together for just about 3 years when he proposed this past December. He works in construction and has a pretty bad back from his years of manual labor. So we are just hanging out in the kitchen when he says his back is out and he’s in excruciating pain (looked pretty convincing and at this point I figured the night was going to suck). So being it was winter he had on a sweatshirt with a tee shirt underneath, he was begging me to take off the sweatshirt so I could help crack his back-back into place. So I take off the sweatshirt and I see a rope around his neck and I was like what the hell is that? I followed it around and on the end was the engagement ring I had been dying for him to propose to me with for 3 years. I was shocked and delirious! Totally unexpected, I thought he would never propose. I’m so happy now I have the man of my dreams. I guess it’s not that romantic of a story but it’s pretty creative/cute coming from a tough construction guy. Great question though, love it lots :)

Yikes, mine was sooo romantic
I had just come home (parents house) from work and my sweetie was in the living room talking to my mom. Mom asked me to make them a cuppa tea so I started buzzing around the kitchen when I started to catch snippets of their conversation. My mom and my boyfriend were planning a party when my relatives visited in the summer. I brought the tea in and plopped down to find out what the party was for and he said "oh, it's our engagement party"
That was the closest he came to proposing. No ring, no sweet words, no romance except for the realization that he so took our marriage for a certainty that he didn't realize he was supposed to ask. He just knew we'd marry and always be together. I can't even explain how romantic that was once I got over laughing at the fact that my mom, dad and sisters knew I was getting married before I did.
I was to get my engagement ring at the engagement party but it wasn't ready so they supplied a substitute (which my sweetie bought for me as well as the "real" engagement ring that came a few weeks later). Because of the mixup, I had to run and pick up the replacement so I got my engagement ring from a very non-romantic jeweler. When my real ring finally came, they sent it over by courier so I got my real ring from a 15 yr. old kid with a bike and braces. *lol*
After all that, I have to say my guy is truly the most romantic person I know. Our first year of marriage, he'd wake me up by kissing me as he left for work, a cup of tea and some breakfast he'd made for me would be sitting on a tray beside me. That only changed because my schedule changed.
Today, after 26 years together, he'll often do things that are just sweet and thoughtful. I still tease him that we're not really married because he still hasn't offically asked me though ;)

Mine was funny because I didn't have any clue what was going on.... he are both artist so we went to see an art exhibit at the museum.... during the exhibit I hit him with my roll up program because the painter proposed to his wife within 2 weeks of knowing her.... there was a painting on display about it... well, he was going to ask then but I trotted off to the next painting... mostly because I had those head phone things on.. Then after that show he tried to get me to go in another part of the museum but they were having some open house and it was packed... so I won't go in because 1. I have seen the jewelry exhibit about 50 times and we have memberships so we can go back at anytime... so I foiled his plan asking there....
We get out of the building and I head straight for the car... I am hungry and want to out to dinner... and he's trying to stall and convince me to go up to this gazebo to look at the water. Well, we just had all this flooding so everyone lawn furniture and junk is floating in the river... and I am like wow, look at all the trash... The poor guy was SO nervous and quickly got down on one knee and proposed before I could get out of the gazebo. LOL
It was very sweet and very meaningful that he did it at the Museum.

We were at the beach, getting ready to leave when he told me to wait a minute, he wanted to look at the ocean one more time before we left. I didn't figure it out until I realized he was down on his knee. He didn't have a ring, since he knew I wanted to use my Grandmother's ring from my Grandfather. But he had picked up a mood ring in one of the gift shops at the beach and used that to propose.

Sadly mine wasn't romantic at all--he kinda went wanna get married and I was like sure.
I have had two friends that were proposed to very romantically though..
The guy made a Cinderella story book of him and her, took her to the beach for a picnic read the book then ended it with the proposal.
Niece was proposed to at KU's midnight blast thing, had friends across the gym from them with a sign at half-time with a sign asking her to marry him.
I think those are the two that I can think of.

I MET MY HUSBAND THROUGH HIS SISTER, who came up to me during a nail appt. to say I was perfect for her brother and she insisted I take his email address. I wrote to him, he wrote back and a week later we met. A month later we went shopping for rings. Neither of us had been previously married, but we just KNEW we were right for each other. So I knew he was going to propose but I didn't know WHERE OR WHEN. 3 months later there was this huge Christmas tree charity VIP party. My husband is a pastry chef and made desserts and pastries for it - and invited me to come check it out. While in front of a huge crowd of people, Santa Claus came up on stage and called our names. Then he told me there was a special gift I was getting that year. My husband proceeded to propose - his eyes as wide as dinner plates. I said YES gladly and we saved up for our dream wedding. I was 25 at the time and he was 33. We've now been married 1 year and known each other for 3 years. Because of his pastry chef background, he made our wedding cake - 5 tier masterpiece, complete with handmade fondant blush roses and draping wine grapes. I didn't know anything about my cake until the wedding day - I told him to make it anyway he wanted to because I knew it would be incredible. And it was. And so is our life together now!

Mine was a little different from your typical restaurant proposal. My husband decided he didn't want to have a date planned out he was just going to do it in the spur of the moment. We were out shopping for him and I was being patient and wasn't saying much. We decided to go out to dinner that night. We went back to his parents house before we went out to eat to grab some tip money (this was not unusal) while we were there his mom had asked us to pick some papers up from her sunday school class so we said we would. So we decided to head to an italian restaurant. After dinner we went to the church to pick up the papers. When we went to the classroom my husband turned around and he locked the door I looked at him and said what are you doing? Then he started walking around the room. Finally, I grabbed his shoulders and shook him and said WHAT ARE YOU DOING? He said nothing. Then he got down on one knee and proposed, he said he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. This is the exact room that he had asked me out in, so that made it even more special to me!
My husband isn't into all the romantic with the flowers (he doesn't think this way he says) but he likes to re-live the moment. It was so romantic and we went and told my parents and then his parents. It was the best night ever! (until our wedding night of course)

We were introduced by friends who had gotten married. His best friend married my best friend 7 years ago. About 3 years ago, they decided that we needed to date. (They were right). On one of his last trips to my hometown, we had a fight about the distance. Yes, a fight. He lived in Utah and I live in Georgia. We basically decided then that he was moving here and we were getting married.
After he moved here in July, we went to pick out a ring. Together.
It wasn't exactly the most romantic proposal, but it worked for us.

When my husband & I were together for a few years, we decided to buy a house together, and when we picked up our keys and unlocked our door to our new home for the very first time, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife, he said a bunch of romantic things but I was so shocked I dont remember a thing!
So we entered our home as Fiance's ..... and celebrated that night!!!
