At that age, the minor could apply for emancipation, however, be warned that just because the child feels they are responsible enough, doesn't necessarily mean the courts will see it that way. That minor better have some pretty good reasons and a game plan in place for the future.

Here in the states it varies from state to state but I dont' think many allow under 16 to be emancipated. In order to become an emancipated teen you have to be willing to take on all of the responsiblities of an adult. That includes your own living expenses, rent, household bills (electric, phone, gas, water, sewer) internet bill, car payments, car insurance payments, medical/dental insurance. All of those require at least a full time job and because of child labor laws most employers will not hire those under the age of 16. If you're thinking of living off of welfare, think again because welfare will only put you back into the hands of your parents if you have proven to be unable to take care of yourself.

In the UK, they must be 16 and have parental permission to leave the family home. I can't comment on anywhere else but I guess the civilised world is likely to be similar.
I know you read about kids losing their parents in car crashes and fires etc. and the eldest taking over the family unit - but they still have to have a legal guardian so they have to live with an adult

Legally in the U,S you have to be the age of 18 or go to court and get emancipated . Which you have to prove to the judge the reason for it. then you still could not live alone... you would be still considered a minor....

I'm pretty sure if the police find a 15 year old living in a sewer pipe homeless they are not going to charge them with "living alone".

i don't think so..there's what you called age of 'emancipation' where a child can stay away from their parents at a certain age..it's usually 18-21, depending on what country you live. you have to research on that.

well, ithink not... bec 16 is the start of teen years.. many things will be in experiment stage... unless your child is really disciplined... its up to you.. but its hard to risk... esp for your own child.. just take extra care..
legal age of living alone is 18yr above... its still minor..
