don't take anything (especially any diuretic type things) as it will just undo the good you've done.

Your body will bloat and it's common to have digestive discomfort when you change your eating/drinking patterns.

But I think you are just imagining your fingers. They are probably swollen due to temperature, if not then you should maybe go to the doctor because that's not normal. Swollen hands and feet are actually a symptom of dehydration.

Like the others have said salt has a lot to do with your body holding on to water. For every bit of salt your body has to surround it with water which is okay HOWEVER when you take in too much salt this will mean you're holding a lot more water.
You should be getting enough salt naturally through the food you're eating so there's no need to add any onto your food for flavour. Try herbs and stuff.
If you're having pre-packaged things (which you shouldn't be having much of if you're truely eating healthy) they contain excessive salt. Even, and especially things like tinned soups.

So have a look at how much salt you're eating but your body should settle down within a week. Oh and I hope you're not having caffeinated drinks as this could be a reason! They will also undo the good you've done.

Good luck

If it's that time of the month, you'll retain water!

Also, watch the sodium intake! In addition, if you're just starting to drink a lot of water, your body is getting used to it still and hanging on to it a little bit to stay hydrated. Pretty soon it will stop. Ironically, the best way to stop the bloating is to keep drinking water!

How To Stop Retaining Water

There are over the counter pills you can take that will help. They are found in the diet pill section of the pharmacy.

Also, if you're retaining water it means your body needs water. Believe it or not, drinking more water may actually help as well. When you keep yourself highly hydrated (I know this is gross, but if your pee is clear, you're hydrated), you will loose more water than what you drink.

Exercise may help as well. But remember to drink plenty of water while doing it, or you may make the problem worse.

When I as pregnant and had the great potential of retaining water the Dr. told me to drink more water. He said I know this doesn't sound like it makes sense but the more water you take in the more water gets flushed out of your system. Good Luck!

You have to really watch how much salt/sodium you are taking in. It is a very bad culprit to swelling. Drink a lot of water too. At first you might feel a bit bloated...but when your body realizes that it will get lots of water it will stop holding onto it and storing it.

The more water you drink - the less you will retain. Black tea (meaning tea without milk or sugar) will help, as will reducing sugar in your diet. Don't smoke, and get some exercise.

Beverages containing caffeine and alcohol have a diuretic effect, and several other foods including celery, onion, eggplant, asparagus and watermelon are said to have a diuretic effect. Vinegar is good, too, as well as fresh lemon juice. In addition, the herbs hawthorn, corn silk, and parsley are used as diuretics in natural medicine. Of these, hawthorn, (crataegus oxycanthus) is the most powerful.
