Tom Cruise should be able to do and say as he pleases. Sometimes I wonder how a country like the US with freedom of speech being important to them can be so judge mental and hate full towards people who want to speak their minds.
Tom Cruise Expressed he love and he is condemned for it.
Tom Cruise has different believes then the majority.
With all the Americans making such a big deal about love and feedom of speech I have to wonder where the future of your constitution will end up.

Just because Tom Cruise is a celebrity does not mean he has to shut up about his beliefs either. How many actors/actresses espouse their political views every chance they get?
I think Tom Cruise says what he thinks, which may not always be right, but at least he is being honest with himself and others. Which is more than I can say for the majority of people coming out of Hollywood.

$cientology is a $cam. See the Operation Clambake web site below for more details (with links to the censored South Park scientology episode). Tom Cruise is just one of its many victims.

I think it would be unfair to suggest that Tom Cruise is representative of all Scientologists. I'm sure a lot of them feel rather embarrassed at his recent behaviour.

Tom Cruise (and anyone come to that) is entitled to say whatever they like.
Essentially, he is doing nothing different to what Christians do, that is try and convince everyone else that he knows best.

"universally disliked": lol.
Well, I don't think that "extraterrestrials" (if they exist) really care about Tom Cruise lol.
Anyway, as a non-believer, I cannot answer your question, but I wished to share my view about your question :-)
I see Tom Cruise as a human who needs help. But even if I wished to, I could not help him - lol.

I do believe that Scientology is a very dangerous and has links to satanism.
I don't believe that anyone should support followers of Scientology at all.
