When I got my son up this morning I noticed that he had bruises covering the side of his head and ear, as well as on the other side of his neck and a bit of his other ear. I did not see any of this the day before. My son is almost three years old, and I asked him what happened but he pretty much just agrees with everything I say or he says he doesn't know.

I can't figure out how he could have gotten these bruises and it doesn't make much sense for it to be from hitting his head on the wall or something because it is on both sides of him.

Please help me figure out what's going on here....

Start by taking him to the doctor to rule out a medical problem. Eliminate the "suspects" one at a time. Question everything, trust no one, stop at nothing. If someone is doing this to a 3 year old, they need to be dealt with.

Take him to the doctor. i find it strange that he is bruising on the ears, I have never really seen that. Also, it's strange it wasn't noticeable as marks or red spots or anything the day before, you mean bruising just appeared without any prior signs of injury. Could you have missed the day before, that's what alarms me it could be a blood disorder or something if it just shows up like that. make an appt with the doctor and in the meantime do some research on bruising so you are prepared to ask the doctor all sorts of questions.

I of course would investigate the daycare, spouse, and all others that are around him. Maybe jsut bring it up and say that you are really concerned and that you will have to take him to the doctor and see their reaction. Don't accuse anyone straight out or ask "did you do it?"

my son wacks into the wall during his sleep all the time, so i made a pillow like one of those bed buddies, but skinner, to put between him and the wall,

if he is bruising easy on other parts of his body, i would go to the doctor and have a blood test done, there are a few different deficency that can cause that, many can be fixed by diet changes

It does sound like symptoms of a bleeding disorder, like someone mentioned before, I think it was Aintgivinup. You should take him to the doctor... RIGHT NOW! It sounds like his blood has gotten thin enough to seep through the walls of his veins and that it kind of pools in certain areas. Has he been bitten by a tick lately?

not really much anyone can analyze with the info provided...but if i were you...i would take pic's of the bruising...i'm sure at 3 yrs. old he's a pretty independent toddler...but i would just try to check up on him throught out the night...he could be sleep walking...

If he is in daycare, or around other toddlers, they may be bite marks - have you noticed that the bruising looks like teeth marks? I have found many bite marks on my son, who goes to day care, and he usually doesn't complain to his caregiver, so they rarely see it happen

think really hard about what/where he was a couple of days ago to present day. was he around alot of kids? does he go to daycare? what does he do during th day? just retrace your steps the last few days and you will probably figure it out.

Do you have a sitter? Or other children? Maybe your spouse? I don't mean to point fingers but someone had to do it if you are ruling out him hitting his head.
