I swallow it time to time. I heard its not good to be swallowing it everyday because the body can't digest it properly.

Here, go here & it will tell you. ]

gum has a lot of stuff in it which is bad for our bodies and most of the time if we swallow gum much of it doesn't go all the way through the digestive system. If we swallow enough of it, we can get clauged up, as you can imagine. But children seem to swallow it all the time, so don't get paranoid!

What charming habits kids pick up in their efforts to look cool! Why anyone would choose to swallow chewing gum is a mystery to me, and, although I certainly wouldn't advise swallowing it, I can assure you it isn't actually dangerous.

Chewing gum consists of a fibre that can't be digested by our bodies, so, if it's swallowed, apart from the unpleasant texture, it will pass harmlessly through the body intact along with other waste. There is no way it could get lost and wrap itself around vital organs or lurk in the stomach for untold years.

Swallowing gum is not a big deal. It just gets digested with everything else and comes out the other end.

I heard it just passes through the body, quite quickly. My mom said the same thing, But why do people want to swallow gum, anyways? Maybe I should ask this question.

Nothing bad happens when you swallow gum. You digest it the same way as you digest everything else.

One version has it that the gum stays in your stomach for seven years. Another says it winds up in your appendix, along with your fingernail nubs, should you happen to be addicted to nail biting.

All of these ideas, needless to say, are jive. It's true that chewing gum base is indigestible, but humans consume a great many things that are indigestible. (You ever try Crispy Critters?) All such roughage is simply eliminated from the body after the usual jog down the alimentary canal.

Yes and no, gum can not be broken down in the body, so it passes through as whole gum and if your unlucky can glog up your intestines, but that is really rare. My advice is to spit (forgive the phrase) rather than swallow.

It's a bad idea.

The gum may stick to the wall of the intestines...and... ask your family doctor.

Don't swallow it.

there was a story of a chick who swallowed so much gum that she got a gum ball stuck in her stomach and it had to be surgically removed (true story). I doubt that happens very often, and proably only with a crap load of gum.

In conclusion, I'd just spit it out.
