Someone in my family is like that and they eat absolutely loads with no ounce of fat. I think it's just the way you are and will always be, nothing wrong with that.

Personally I have the opposite problem but a very good friend of mine is just like you. A couple of things helped her.
First, skip breakfast if you can. As soon as you start to eat in the morning it kick starts your metabolism. If you wait and are really hungry by the time you eat then your body goes into storage mode so you will convert more food to fat instead of burning it. Same rule goes throughout the day. If you want to snack then get things that are high carb/high sugar that will give you a buzz and then leave you hungry again.
Secondly get bigger plates, in this way you wont realise how much more you are eating. Whether you are trying to eat more or not we are very visually aware when we eat. A small plate pilled high will tell our brains we've eaten loads and a large plate with the same amount on will not look like much of anything, so our brain will say to eat more.
Also do less sport, more sitting around and don't burn what you've stored. Don't take the stairs, take the lift. Take a car a bus or the underground instead of walking or going on a bike.
As far as a very fast metabolism is concerned if it's a problem then get it checked out with doctor. There are some serious thyroid problems the can cause this.
Also if you are thinking of having children soon then I recommend that you don't do anything about it right now. I know several mothers who were like you but as soon as they had kids their metabolism slowed right down and now they have the opposite problem.
Essentially what you need to do is take the diets that work and reverse them. Any of the high protien diets become high carb diets. Also when you do eat meat make sure it's combined with carbs of some sort. That no mixing veg and protien diet does work, so again reverse it.
Good luck.

Depends how old you are. When I was in high school I went 6'1" 150 for the majority of it. I know what you mean by the metabolism thing. If I don't eat then I can lose 5 lbs in one day. Now I'm 27 and go 170 but only have about 7% body fat. I don't workout on a regular basis, just occasionally, but some how I just ended up getting blessed with a lean muscular greek body.
My best advice. Keep eating, excercise and be patient. Oh and have lots of sex....good for the arms, shoulders, glutes, abs, etc.
And for God's sake be glad that you are skinny. It's a much better problem to have of being too skinny than being obese.

It's not necessarily how much you eat, but what you eat.
Make sure you have a protein & complex carbohydrate rich diet. If you have difficulty with this there are many natural supplements such as protein shakes, and metabolism slowers, designed for athletes and bodybuilders that can help.
Then combine that diet with weight and resistance exercises (low aerobic exercise will prevent you burning off too much energy) and you will gain muscle mass (weight), and do it in a healthy way that makes you end up looking good too, instead of just looking fat if you skip the weght training & just eat lots of fatty foods.
Try http://store.maximuscle.com/epages/maximuscle.storefront/
They sell many excellent health supplements for sportsmen and women, and also can help design a dietary & training program ideal for your goals.

I used to be very skinny and I started lifting weights and eating alot of carbs. I does work and you get a really cool physique plus you gain self confidence and nice muscle tone. Eating is number one though, you don't have to eat crap, just eat alot. You have to increase you calorie intake and burn less calories to put on weight. Also don't worry about doing cardio, maybe do just a warm up for 5 mins, and then straight to weights.

Yes... I am 5'11" and very thin (well not currently because I am 6 months pregnant)... I gained weight with my first pregnancy because my metabolism slowed down. but right after the baby, the weight was all gone and I was just as thin. I eat like a horse and still was not gaining any weight. Then I started drinking Ensure Plus twice a day. It is loaded with good calories and helps to maintain and gain weight. It is a little pricey, but was well worth it.
Good luck.

i used to be really skinny, then i got a job on a building site and for some reason i just sort of grew out! (not fat lol), so i think a bit of manual work does the trick! Plus a few bacon and egg sandwiches about 4 times a day!

Check out the book The Maker's Diet, by Jordan Rubin. Or go online at www.themakersdiet.info In the first few chapters, he tells of how he was so skinny, and how he put on weight. Turns out he had Chron's (sp) disease, and he couldn't gain weight no matter how hard he tried. Good luck.

Depends on what you mean by uncomplicated! If eating more doesn't seem to work, like you say, I would suggest doing some weight workouts. Although exercising more may seem to the contrary, building muscle will weigh more and although you may stay slim, you will at least have a more toned and defined look.

Hi, A friend of mine had this same problem and this is what he did and it has definitely worked......
He started going to the gym and jogging.
He only really eats pasta, chicken, eggs, fruit, veg and tuna and drinks plenty of water.
This was not an over-night solution,it took him a few months to start noticing a difference but now, he wouldn`t change a thing,he looks great!
Best wishes achieving your new look.

hey man i got the same prob i play a lot of sport i also asked the same sort of question on this site and got the same gay responses as 'eat more'. Do they not realise that we have already trying that?/
Something u can try is to build up you muscles though, coz its another avenue for fat to be stored as muscle so workout and get serious into weights mate
