your right christianity should go its time is up and done with but i see no reason for christians to keep assuming there lie is true when there is no scientific proof outside of the bible to be true. most modern christians follow the teachings of paul and not jesus i sooner create a new religion on the real teachings of jesus and not of paul.
christianity is a blood cult that indeed needs to end and its only been around for a little more than 1600 years not 500 m_thurson. thought i let her know that too. if the christian fanatics had it there way there would be another witch trials and another civil war and yes they started the first civil war too and they also started this war in iraq as well.

Dont forget all the Anti-Semitism from the papacy, and protestants dont think your getting let off too because Martin Luther wrote a whole book hating the jews (the jews and their lies).
On your witch hunt point it should be noted that the vast majority of Witch hunts were spurred on by village quarrels among neighbours and were not the fault of fanatical clergy. (Brad Cox Ph.D)
In my opinion though the countries which are not only the richest and with highest quality of life but also the most pluralist and charitable are those with christian morals. I do not mean anti-abortion i mean acceptance of other cultures and the wish to aid people in need.
Europeans and Americans give by far the most per capita of their income to charity and this giving is not limited to those who are practicing their religion.
In closing the vital set of right and wrongs of christian morals are not a disaster.

You answered your own question in a way...your final statement "It fails the test of Jesus....etc".. perhaps the problem is not that "Christianity has been tried and found wanting, but Christianity has not truly been tried" (Paraphrase from the writings of G.K. Chesterton)
You want to get rid of Christianity, yet, you want also to quote the Bible. You are looking only on the dark side, there have been so many Christians who have lived exemplary lives and so changed the lives of all those they touched for the better. You cannot make a truthful point without considering the entire truth....

Christianity as a religion with its hierarchy, rituals and regulations holds little resemblance to the heart of Christ. Christianity was never meant to be a religion, but a way of life. The keys to the Kingdom of God are not kept by any church, but belong to the Church that is humanity. Those who are willing, loving and ready, will receive them. Besides, there are a lot of pagan influences within the religion of Christianity: for example, the ridiculous concept of a hell, the Christmas tree, and various rituals, like confession. If one authentically has a change of heart after the fire of guilt, then one expresses more from Life (eat His bread and drink His wine). Anyway, I think religion has also influenced society in a good way through charity and works of compassion, but it all depends on the way people approach spirituality and religion in their unique manner; therefore, religion can be knife to kill or cook with.

As a complex philosophical foundation upon which Western civilization is based, Christianity has, indeed, stood the test of time. It provides answers (whether you agree with them or not) to basic human questions about life, death and behavior. Now, the various "implementations" of Christianity often leave much to be desired. They have also led to a variety of wars.
If you examine every major civilization in the world today, you will see that it is underpinned by a deep philosophy of life. Islam, Hinduism, the teachings of Confucious.

Many of your examples come from people mixing government and religion. Only recently has there been a dramatic shift that separates these two fasots. Religion in not meant to "improve lives" just as governement is not meant to improve people's lives. Religion is to provide moral and spiritual guidence. A support group in a sense. It has been mankind and individuals that have twisted religion or in your case christianity for personal gain. It was people who came up with the idea to fight for Christ, but the Bible tells stories of Jesus taking the hit and dying upon the cross even though he had the power to prevent it. Most religions share the same principals, but because the details or cutoms of worship are different people view theirs as "better". Religion is not meant to be a contest. I feel that from your writing you want answers and blame. Would you give up on yourself?

Nice job of selectively contriving an account of Christian history over the last 2000 years.
The truth is that Christianity was born in persecution -- their own! For the first 300 years they were persecuted by the Roman empire. You are correct in noting that the "organized Church" has dished out some of its own injustice and persecution, but you should note that Biblical Christians abhor the same. Biblical Christians are able to "judge" such treatment as "wrong" based upon the fact that the Bible does not allow sanction the Church to be intolerant and aggressive.
In other words, your own analysis of Christianity is based upon the Bible's standards of right and wrong. Toss out the Bible, and you are left with your own accounting of events -- but without any real basis for saying that its wrong -- it simply "is".
Lastly, if you were honest about history, you would allow for the fact that Christians have contributed much good to the world -- hospitals, mercy, orphanages, etc.. Many other religions leave people in their suffering because they believe that is their "karma". Christians bring relief.

in the process the Enlightenment era, the psychological circulate commonly used as Rationalism swept in the process Europe. This led many to interpret the Scriptures outdoors the coaching authority of the Church. Martin Luther furthered this along with his novel theology of Sola scriptura (scripture on my own). This introduced approximately non-public judgment theology and has given upward thrust to the 30,000 diverse Protestant denominations. The Church emphasised that the Scriptures might desire to be study in gentle of the apostolic custom that grew to become into handed down in the process the a while. As Saint Peter writes in his epistle, Scripture isn't a count of own interpretation. It for this reason might desire to recommend that it truly is a controversy of public interpretation, and that's the translation of the Church. The Church has consistently inspired examining the Scriptures. truly, the Catholic Church is the only that first translated the Scriptures into the vernacular. Why? because of the fact she needed the Scriptures to be obtainable to as a lot of human beings as possible. Protestants don’t many times talk approximately this heritage, do they?! observe additionally that Catholics get extra Scripture than the different Christian faith. We actually study the finished Bible each 3 years in the process the Mass. The Catholic Church is the Church Christ geared up upon Peter and the apostles.

I'd agree with you if you were really speaking of Christianity. Your own scripture quoted answers the question plainly. These who commit these sins are not Christians. Only true Christians follow the Bible fully. Try to find the true religion that does this and you will be greatly relieved.

Religion in general has begotten violence throughout the ages. By its very nature, religion is a divisive force in society. Christianity has for long been the dominant religion by numbers, and commensurate to its size, is its share in the blood shed in the name of religion. If we do away with Christianity, by the same reasoning we must do away with all other religions that have led to any bloodshed- in effect do away with religion itself. However man's need to believe in a higher being who is in control is so great, were religion not to exist, it would certainly be invented to satisfy this need. And were religion not to exist, would mankind not find other reasons to be divided and indeed, to kill?
