you can buy your new truck anywhere. when you buy it tell the seller that you are going to register it out of state, that way you won't have to pay taxes on it there. make sure you get all of your paper work(tax statements/ full purchase price, etc) so that when you get home you can register it. you will have to go to a secrectary of state or dept of revenue to fond out how much it will cost to register it. they will tell you what the taxes are and also license plate cost. it might be a good idea to check with them first to find out exactly what paper work they need. this could save you a second trip to the selling dealer. it happened to me. good luck

Go buy it, get the paper temporary plate and all the needed paper work. drive it to your state and get the plate there. Take off the paper plate and enjoy your new truck.

beware, california has a law that say the vehicle needs to have 7500 miles on it before you can register it. Check with your local motor vehicle dept.
