I am doing a presentation on Wicca and need to find out what the stereotypes are. I don't need preached to or told all wiccans are going to hell...I want to hear every stereotype, even if they are stupid, like they sacrifice children!
I have studied the religion and don't need a lecture on how it works or what it really is...I already know.
Thanks in advance!

well I've been called everything from:
a- Satan worshiper
b- weird and of course freak
c- ignorant (for believing in an ancient religion and gods)
d- feminist
e- lesbian
f- that i sacrifice animals
g- I've been accused of hexing people
wow come to think of it I've been told or accused of every stereotype there is..lol maybe not i haven't been accused of flying on a broom or eating children. Well I guess I fit into the "tree hugger" stereotype. But hey if you love who and what you are, what does stereotypes matter.

The stupid stereotypes are that Wiccans are tolerant, peace loving enlightened sorcerers w/ real magical powers who don't hate "xtians" like Jerry Falwell. Wiccans aren't like that at all.
Some Wiccans do hurt children. Read The Good Witch's Bible by Gavin and Yvonne Frost. And there have been cases of Wiccans performing human sacrifices (i.e., Gerald Gardner's original Wicca coven).
It is a cult created circa 1950 by by British masochist Gerald Gardner so he could be beaten by strong willed women. Followers are self deluded into believing they have magical powers.

I've noticed recently when people correct others on what Wicca is [i.e. initiate-only oathbound lineage priesthood, not a do-it-yourself belief system] a lot of people are bringing up the stereotype of Wicca being bigoted, elitist and even Nazi-like – generally this is more to do with the comments and attitude of 'fluffy bunnies' (wilfully ignorant towards Wicca) when told they are not Wicca unless initiated, however the attitude seems to be becoming more prevalent lately.
A lot of people outside of Paganism tend to view Wicca as being tree-hugging New Age types and hippies, and within Paganism there are still a lot of people who are of the mind that Wicca are 'Love & Light' types (peace and love, never doing anything negative). All wrong.

The Fluffy Bunny stereotype. I definately fit this one around 12 years ago.
"Fluff Bunnies are willfully ignorant of the lore and mythology they claim to follow. They will defend misinterpretations and revisionist history to the death and are unwilling to even entertain a differing point of view. They tend to quote metaphor and advice as if it were gospel. Many subscribe to the ideal that Pagans should be only happy and helpful people who are accepting of all comers. This worldview is often referred to as the “Love, Light, and Lollipops” worldview. Nature is never cruel; life is never unfair; and all animals are secretly vegetarians. Fluff Bunnies are actually pretty easy to spot most of the time."

Umm okay? So... if you already know, why are you asking?
Reminds me of a school teacher asking me how to spell, "pencil." Does she know how to spell it? Of course she does, but she is asking me-- for what reason? Most likely to waste time or to see if I know-- so that if I misspell it, she can humiliate me.
.....Aside from this, I don't know anything about Wiccan's other than the fact that during Marine Corps boot camp in San Diego-- way back in 98, they encouraged people to go to the Wiccan church service because at the end, they gave out free sugar cookies....

well there are hundreds of steroetypes about wicca but the main one that i hear the most is that they are into goth and are not concidered to be pagan. some wiccans i know of think that there belief is thousands of years old when its only about 50 years old.
wiccans are also concidered to be satan worshippers and demons but that is also untrue of them.
wiccans are called teen wannabe's and are normaly told that they are just trouble makers.
wiccans are normaly seen as goth kids or just kids who want revenge on there parents
wicca is basicaly a branch off of paganism and some older nature based beliefs

Hormone crazed young women is the stereotype I have, even though I know it's not really accurate. Perhaps its more of a fantasy than a stereotype. eh.

Satan worshipers
Pot stirrin'
Tree huggin'
Do it cuz it's "cool" and alternative
Couldn't cut it in Christianity
Dance around in the moonlight
Goth
Do it for attention
And I don't generally think of wiccan guys. Mostly teenage girls.
Those are all I've heard that I can think of.

That they respect the balance in nature and they respect the feminine side of nature, the yang, as well as the yin unlike other religions. I don't believe they use those names though. That is what I have always thought.
