It is my opinion that yes, if he is a forgiving God, then he will understand and know the pain you endure and the reasons that you are unable to forgive. It is also my opinion that in time, that if you are meant to forgive, God will soften your heart and give you the strength and the tools to forgive. Good luck to you...

God understands all sides of the matter. He not only understands your inability to forgive, but also the reason why this person wronged you. However, He also understands your true cpacity for frgiveness. Something no other person can know, not even ourselves at times. He looks, instead, for your desire to do His will, which in this case is to forgive, and your actual effort expended in trying to achieve forgiving this person. If you do not put in an honest effort, God will see that, too, and He will understand all too well. However, we can find comfort in the fact that He tells us to forgive those who wrong us, not just because it glorifies His name to do so, and makes us more like Him, and thus closer, but also because it makes us mentally, spiritually, and physically healthier, too. Worry, anger, and preoccupation with things outside of our control can have serious damaging effects and can make it very difficult to live life to its fullest and its greatest degree. God only wants to see us happy, so take His prescription for your happiness, and try to forgive the absolute best you can. A good book to read for inspiration on the matter is the book of Job, and the four Gospels.

The worse sin you can commit,( against yourself), is to fail to forgive.
1)Unforgivness will eat up your Soul like a cancer !
2)Unforgivness will make you sick in your body !
3) Unforgivness will effect your mind.
The nightmares are an outgrowth of your unforgivness. Once you let go, God will do the rest. But it will take ........
1) Time.
2) A willing spirit.
3) Prayer.
4) Reliance on God alone !

Forgiveness is for your own benefit; not God's. To be blunt, the only one loosing out on your unwillingness to forgive, is you. By not forgiving, you carry a burden and a bitterness you don't have to. I'm not saying it's as simple as deciding to forgive. I don't know your situation but I do know that granting forgiveness is better than witholding it, no matter the situation. Just pray, have faith, and move towards it as best you can.

Grace(not Law) unto you and peace(no division),
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Pehaps you haven't noticed the PS clarity to the Mt 6 prayer, which notably says forgive us: "as we forgive others"... And if not, then not. PS: if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
http://www.godshew.org/ShewBread2.htm#LordPrayer
However, such law law forgiveness is (you first) conditional, and Godly forgiveness is NOT (you first) conditional in Eph 4, where it notes for Christ's sake man, God "hath"(past tense) "forgiven you"; Not to mention it's while you were a sinner in Rom 5.
http://www.godshew.org/TwainShew4.htm#Laws
How'd God do that; Especially if it's biblically noted blasphemy the Ghost is unforgiveable, both in this world and the to come; And everyone has in some way spoken against the Ghost, the law thereof such Ghostly God(Spirit) on high in plural and divided heavens, even if only to say, as a child, parental law is not fair?
http://www.godshew.org/LawOfGod.htm
True and lasting forgiveness is notably only plausible by the abolition of law, of Christ: the end of the law, our peace who hath abolished the law(enmity); For by the law of the Holy Ghost, blasphemy the Ghost is unforgiveable, both in this world and the to come (as if law were the to come... Not, no, not on my watch).

The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

there are worse sins out there than not forgiving. had that person at least tried to make it up to you, maybe... but some sins can never be forgiven. i'm sure even god can understand that.
just try to calm yourself down and not let the thing eat you up inside. this is not about him this is about you getting back your peace of mind.

Forgive us our tresspass as we forgive those who trespass against us; the golden rule says that- "do to others as you wish them to do to you. so, if we want God to forgive us when we err against Him,we MUST try as much as possible to forgive no matter the level of the wrong. Remember, the parable of the Slave in Jesus illustration who refused to forgive his fellow slave over a small unit of money.
