I mean I just asked if my display pic was too blury and I got a lot of comments on how I am "hot". How come so many people are so open to saying things like this to others when they are on the internet, when they never usually say these things out in the real world? Is it because u know u are anonymous? I never have been told directly by a girl that they thought I was "hot" I always have to hear it from one of my friends or something....u girls sure do confuse me... I dont see why you dont say these things to people (off of the computer)...I wouldnt make fun of you or anything...I would actually be flattered...It isnt that scary to tell people these things in real life if you really think about it...what is the worst thing that could happen?

enquiring mind...I think it SHOULD be socially accepted...besides...isnt it fun just knowing that you cannot predict what the reaction will actually be...I love how it is so unpredictable...you never know, the outcome could turn out great! and if not...then oh well...they arent the kind of person you thought they were anyways...it is better to find that out sooner than later...right?

I'll speak my mind on and offline. If you read some of my replies, I'll generally be the same in real life too. I am never openly hateful or nasty, but if you warrant it, I will speak up.

would you go upto somebody in real life and just blurt out 'your hot'.. i thought not

ppl are more open online because one they arent there in real life to see the reaction from what they have jst said to the person, so they cant be laughed at in the face or shouted at. Two, speaking to people online keeps ppl a certain distance away from actually truly knowing a person, so if something happens, or somethings said that could be taken offensively its easier to cut the strings and not have to deal with them again. Also staying anonymous allows shallowness to keep to a certain level, because some ppl are shallow enough to only talk to someone based on their looks. Basically being anoymous keeps judgement at a low level, and allows people to see the real you.. cause your less afraid or more confident in voicing your opinions.

you could be rejected!! Anonominity is a great help in scenarios like this - also the fact that you dont know the person so it cant come back and bite you on the bum!! People use the internet as an outlet to experiment and let their defences down - why do you think its so popular - its escapism from the real world!

Maybe girls are secretly thinking you are HOT when they meet you in person but afraid to tell you.. (but they will tell all their girlfriends!) It's just not socially acceptable, you might think they are weird, stalker, etc.. and online it is non confrontational and safe. (wouldn't you totally blush if someone said that? They might die of embarrasment if you react the wrong way)

a lot of people are afraid of rejection but i agree more people should have balls to say what they feel this goes not only for girls but guys too girls act too shy and timid and guys too macho it would be a better world if folks said what they really thought but until then lead by example maybe if you're more blunt with people in real life others will follow your lead...or reject you nobody knows

The fear of rejection in all of us...no one wants to be turned down esp. in person. And by telling you on the comptuer we are all safe behind our screens--
