According to Christianity, God had a child and Mary was the Mother. Therefore God was the Father. Fathers are men.

God is both. You see, people tend to personify God and make God more human in order to understand better. God is not human. God is kinda like a diamond...when you look at a diamond you only see one diamond, but when you shine a light through that diamond you see many different colored beams from that diamond. It's still one diamond, you just get muliti-colored sparkles from it. For example, your mom calls you daughter/son, your best pal calls you friend, your teacher calls you student...but you are still just one person with many different roles. So, depending on what your needs are at the time you can call upon God's male qualities or God's female qualities. Just like you have both male and female components in your body, both estrogen and testosterone...understand?

Vedic Scriptures tells us that there is no He or She for God as we see in the material World.
In spritual world however, there is conception of Male and Female but the conception is completely different.
In Material world Male and female are differentiated in terms of Bodily Sex organs..
But in Spritual world, the One that Controls and Enjoys is called Male or Purusha.. and that which is Controlled and Enjoyed is called Female or Prakriti ...
In this regard, Only God is the Supreme Male or Purusha. We all living entity (souls) are actually female or Prakriti.. meant to Serve God...
In this world however, every one wants to be God or Enjoyer. The man does so and also the woman.. We all have the desire to become male or Enjoyer.. So the female may have body of Female but actually they are Acting as Male (enjoyer).
When we learn to Serve God we come to our actual Position of being Enjoyed (female) and are happy that way...
Oue tendency to Enjoy (to become Male or God) is the main cause of our suffering..
This is the conclusion of Bhagavad Gita, That God is the supreme Enjoyer and we all are meant to be enjoyed...
Please come above this concept, of identifying with the Bodies and live on the platform of Soul..
Its the basics of Spiritual Life..

For people who insist on creating a god in human form (which is just as crazy as making one in the shape of a. calf, if you really think about it) I guess arguing over male/female makes sense.
But maybe the creator of all that you see isn't anything that we are familiar with. Wouldn't that make sense?

I say male because God said he made man in His image and then later made the female from the male.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And...
And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

I say God is a man, He made Adam in His image, although, as to each individual God may look different in every way to each. Jesus, THE SAME THING..... as we all at the same time stand in front of them we all may see them differently, male, female, color of skin, and we all hear them speak the way we want to hear them... different languages as well, the desires of your heart in Heaven.

Great question...read Paul Coelho's "by the banks of the river piedra"..it talks about this issue in a way.
Personally, I feel God is a A:sexual being. Even though we were created in his image....their has never been a mentioning of sex. We often try to put earthly parameters on something that anything but earthly!!

God is a concept created by man. Man chose this concept to be defined a masculine. So in reality "God" does not actually exist !
You can prove to yourself now that god does not exist
