We feed him Iams Dog food. He gets what he is supposed to get and gets plenty of water. He is 13 years old. Why is he eating his poop? It grosses me out!

you may wanna ask your vet, but I have heard that when a dog does that, there is something lacking in the diet. good luck cause im sure that would gross you out.

Some dogs just do this, it's very gross. You can buy products to put in their food, that will make their poo taste gross so they won't want to eat it. There are also things you can spray on the poo, but those are silly imo, because if you are there to spray the poo, you may as well pick it up.

ps. Iams is very bad food, you should feed something hollistic, like Innova, chicken soup, wellness, canidae, timberwolf, etc. A good food can also make this problem go away.

I had a Cocker that did it as well, and yes it grosses me out too. I believe it the result of food that they have eaten not fully digested. I noticed this more during cold weather when the stool is frozen.

Hey.

If you really care about your dog, I would check out this site. It uncovered some things I had never realized before, and now I'm glad my lab will live far past the age of other dogs.

At 13, it is strange. Alot of puppies do. You can buy these pills to give your dog that will make their poo taste horrible. Check with your Vet or pet stores.

there is no answer that can be supported with substantial evidence...lots of ideas tho..go to your vet tell them what your dog is doing and get a product called 'forbid'..it comes in small packages that you sprinkle over your dogs food...mix well and volia..problem solved

they make something to put in their food so when they go it smells really bad so they wont eat it...works only if you clean the poop up frequently and if you can deal with the smell because it will smell worse to us too!
