Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Israel but was raised in Galilee in the town of Nazereth. Judea and Israel at the time were different entities. Jew is of modern coinage meaning someone from Judea or someone adhering to the religion of Judea which at the time of Jesus was the religion of the Pharisees. If you remember the gospel Jesus often bashed the Pharisees. If you look up modern Judaism you will see that it is based on Phariseeic "Judaism." Jesus adhered to the religion of Israel which wasn't as beurocratic as the Pharisee religion that he rebuked. "King of the Jews" was never his title. The Latin transcription was an insult and it actually stated "King of Judea" which was to mock the people of that land.

I am Assyrian Christian. I have nothing against Jews or Muslims. They practically share the same religion. This is just a factoid. So to the retards that want to start calling me anti-something go f yourselves. Assyrians are Semitic.

Abraham was not a Jew , infact there is no nationality called Jew. Abraham if you read in the book of Genesis is a Syrian. That would make his children the same.Your right Jew did come from the tribe of Judah.Later when Judah became the more prominent all Israel called themselves Jews.

The music became inspired through the e book "Elvis and Me" through Pricilla Presley. Acoording to the songwriter, Martin Gore, "it really is a music about being a Jesus for someone else, someone to grant you wish and care. this is about how Elvis became her guy and her mentor and how frequently that takes position in love relationships; how everybody's heart is almost a god ultimately, and that is not an extremely balanced view of someone, is it"? And no, the music isn't about friggin' heroin. i'm an excellent Depeche Mode fan. I own damn close to each CD they have ever released. wish this helps!

Actually, between the time of the death of Solomon until the time of the Babylonian captivity, Israel and Judah were two different nations. After all of the children of Israel who chose to return did so, there was only one nation.

Even if you want to play word games like Anglo-Israelites, Jesus was of the tribe of Judah, so He was a Jew by ancestry.

Matthew 27:11, Jesus acknowledged that He was the King of the Jews.

Sorry bud, but Jesus was Jewish...someone who follows Judaism is considered a Jew, and Jesus followed Judaism. Plus, in that time, they spoke greek and aramaic...NOT latin. The Romans used latin, but more Greek than anything. Check your sources.

That's a bit of a word game. Nationally Jesus was a Galilean, but he clearly practiced the religion of Judaism. And so did his Apostles and immediate followers-- even AFTER he died and it was supposed to be a new religion!

Jesus was Jewish. He was born to Jewish parents and according to Messianic prophecies (which he fulfilled) he was born from the line of Judah. The Bible specifically states that Jesus came unto His own (the Jewish people) and His own received Him not.

It is as if saying I am not a Chinese just because I was not born in China and not recognised by China bureaucratic as citizen -- EVEN THOUGH both my parents are Chinese and I am educated & well-verse in the language and traditions.

no i didn't know and the things you said didn't quite make that point. i don't really care if Jesus was jewish or not i am onlt interested in your point of view. why people get hung up as to if Jesus was this or that really never held meaning to me. I don't care if he was black or white, jew or other, son or phrophet. He was the great one who showed us how to live among them and not be as them. although i never would hand a picture of Christ in my home because i didn't care if he was black or white but, i didn't want my kids to grow up with a white mans picture hanging on our walls so we just learned the works of the man and accepted him as the great teacher he was.
