ok what you need is to work out your achillies tendon and gastronemous which are at the back of the lower part of your leg.

A really good exercise is too hold something heavy on your shoulders or above your head and stand up as far as you can on you tippy toes.

Do this 12 times and for three reps at a time. ( A rep is like a set so 3 sets)

It should do wonders and hurt too otherwise your not doing it right or for long enough

5'8" and the ability to dunk is a tall task, but definitely attainable. How strong are you calves, thighs?? How much do you weigh? First you have to believe you will dunk the ball eventually. Why do you need to dunk?? There's more than one way to put the ball in the basket. Even if you could dunk, it won't be that easy if you have a 6'8" defender in front of you. I don't care if you can dunk or not, you will not go through him. Try plyometrics and sprinting to build the fast twitch muscles in your legs. Dunking is a very explosive movement upward against gravity so you have to develop those muscles in order to attain the ultimate dunk. Also, start dunking on a lower level rim. Start dunking on a 8 ft rim and slowly raise each week about 2 inches and eventually you will reach the 10ft height. Good Luck and if you believe in it, then it will happen.

There are calf strengthening regimens that will increase your standing vertical leap, but if you can only "almost touch the back board" no amount of training is going to get you to the rim.
