Cry your heart out, while remembering that lots of us have been where you are now.
Honestly, it's very hard to get over. It is like losing a family member.
Let yourself go through each step of the grieving process, and by all means, stay away from people who do not understand what you are feeling....!
Having lost 2 older dogs last winter, I am still working on the loss....and believe me, you have my sympathy.

Just think that she had a full and happy life, and she would be sad to see you miss her. I know perhaps now you feel you can't think of another dog, but since you are obviously a person that can make a dog happy, you should adopt a stray dog that really needs you. It is not replacing Suzie, but saving another life in her name. She'd like you to do this.

I am so sorry for your loss. She was a part of your family. Make sure she is somewere you can visit her or put up a momorial. Take time to greeve. You have to feel the pain and work throu it to get to a point that your ok! did you know she was going or was it sudden? This is a hard thing. You must have loved her with all your heart.Making a scrape book may help. do I 12 page scrape book and find pics of suzie and do some remembering.

Putting my beloved kitty down was the hardest thing that I've ever had to do, but I know it was for his own good and that he would have thanked me. It still hurts when I think about him, but thinking of him always brings a smile to my face, too.

I'll bet Suzie would just LOVE for you to get another puppy...or even a kitten....to help take your mind off of the sadness that you feel. It worked for us, and I hope you can find it in yourself to do that now.....It won't take away from Suzie, it'll just make it easier for you. Good luck, and I'll be thinking of you.

let yourself grieve...ive thought as crying is our way of telling us what is important...remember the good times, although it may be awhile until even the good times dont hurt anymore..so cry til the tears become happy tears..the grieving process will take time..dont rush it, thats only the heart mending itself...time is the great mender...i had to put my barrel horse down 7 yrs ago and i still feel the saddness sometimes...maybe this will help, assuming you believe is God...when you begin to feel sad look up at the sky and know that Heaven needed another strong guardian..at night find a star and smile because thats Suzie still watching over you...good luck to you

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my 16 year old dachshund three months ago. I still think of him every day. He had to be one of the kindest souls on earth. My heart goes out to you and your family.

One of my friends gave me a book called, "For Every Dog An Angel," by Christine Davis. I love that little book. It gave me great comfort. Many of us have traveled this road with our pets. Remember the great things you did together. Know that she is in a place where her body is young and whole again. She sounds like she had a lot of love in her life. She was very lucky to have had a family who loved her so much for so many years.

i'm so sorry! be thankful you were able to share your life with her that long. Dogs usually don't live to be the ripe old age of 19! And you probably put her down for a reason...her quality of life probably wasn't that good anymore, so consider it your last gift to her, the gift of no pain. Cry, grieve, and think of her often. She will be with you for the rest of your life in your memories, and there she can never die!

I'm really really sorry. I had to pts my 14 month old female due to cancer. What I did was have her cremated and I have her ashes on my mantel piece. I also have her picture next to it. Over time the pain will become less.I know eventually I was able to get another puppy .She didn't replace Noey but added something to my life that was missing.

wow 19 is an excellent age for a dog!!

you really cannot do much, bury her, cremate her... remember her
donte to an animal shelter in her memory...

realize you did the right thing for her and that she had a full life

when you are ready you can adopt another pet.. but its not reccomended to get one similar to the one you lost, either get a different breed, gender or color...
