Africa has become ground zero for human suffering. There's a lack of food, drinking water, and medicine all throughout the continent. Children are forced into service as soldiers as soon as they can carry a gun. Families are ripped apart. Millions are dying of AIDS. What organizations are you involved in?

I suggest visiting www.invisiblechildren.com if you're looking to get involved.

Mars Hill, in Grandville, Michigan is very involved with various causes in Africa. They found out that, in some countries there, a person can start a business and make a living with as little as $12. What did you spend $12 on today? Sending money over through our government doesn't seem to be working. The aid is stolen by the rulers of those countries. The poor keep on paying price. We're talking about children just like yours and mine. This isn't another planet.

Like the first person said--until Africa's own governement gets involved there is nothing that can be done. So far their involvement has been to hoard foreign aid for their own gain.

These problems have gone on forever. If you can tell me a positive way to get involved that will actually make changes then I'll do it. I remember seing the commercials on tv when I was a kid about how we needed to help these people. I'm now 31 and nothing has changed.

Since gaining their independence, most of the former European colonies in Africa have proven to be totally incapable of governing themselves.

I hate to say this, because I am descended from African slaves who were brought to Cuba -- but sometimes I think that re-colonization is Africa's only hope and only answer.

No point. The governments of those countries choose to keep their citizens poor. People have been donating to Africa for generations and it hasn't helped.

Until the governments of those countries decide to get involved, everything is a wasted gesture

I very much symphatise with their plight...

BUT they became DE-COLONISED
TOO SOON ....

Supply of free condoms, and PREVENTABLE
stuff , a ban on GUNS TO OVERTHERE ...
would be very practical ....

They are doomed otherwise..............
