Depends on what it's made with. The rice is just rice and vinegar. The nori (seaweed) is oil-free. The fish, if it's salmon, tuna or mackerel, contains omega-3 oils which are very good for you (not to mention yummy) and which you ought to be eating anyway. If the fish is white it's virtually fat-free. Wasabi is pretty oil-free as far as I know; soy sauce is fat-free but high in salt; however, soy is full of useful other stuff, so it's a trade-off.

It might also contain mayonnaise (not if it's authentic sushi), which is heavy in fat (and also I think nasty, unless you make it yourself). Not all oil and fat is bad for you, despite what some diet idiots say.

There is no oil in the rice or nori but it depends what you have inside it. Salmon is an oily fish or if you have teriyaki chicken, there will be some oil in the cooking. It depends where you buy it also because some places put a kind of Japanese mayo inside. I've heard it called baby mayo because the bottle is in the shape of a baby! Just ask if you can. Also it usually has sugar in the vinegar solution they use to dress the rice with. Some places (usually Korean) also may have a light sprinkle of sesame oil on the rice.

Yup. Sushi isn't prepared in oil most of the time, and has no significant natural source of oil.

Sushi and sashimi are both raw fish. One is served with rice, the other isn't.

As for oils, it will depend on the fish. Tuna, for instance, is an oily fish. Yellow tail (Hamachi) is not.

But, tuna is very good for you. These oils are good for you, as one other poster pointed out.

do you mean sushi or sashimi (raw fish)? if the former probably, because sushi is mainly rice. if the latter probably not because fish contains oil - some more and some less.

It is not Oil free - fish oils are present. A california roll has avacado, which has oil.

Absolutely - any natural oils in the fish would be Omega 3 and therefore extremely good for you.

It's my favourite food !!!
