I think that if people look at other places in the Bible we might find that the phrase "spare the rod spoil the child" may not be interpreted correctly. In the times of the Bible the occupation that used a rod, or a staff as it was also called, was the shepherd. When a shepherd was tending to his flock he would use his staff to gently guide his flock in the direction he wanted them to go. He didn't beat them over the head (or whack them) with the rod. I think that metaphorically that is what parents should be doing with their words and actions, showing their children what they want them to be doing and if the children go astray then they just need to be gently corrected. The 23rd Psalm says "Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me", it doesn't say "Thy rod and Thy staff they whack me good. This is just my opinion, but it seems like there would be less abuse if Christians and non-Christians took this more gentle way of discipline.

Buddy, You got the scriptures mess up in your head or your head is messed up.. The bible says Husband love your wife as Christ loved the Church. As far as your kids, It says spare not the rod, but you have to also bring that over to where it says in Ephesians 6:4 And ye Fathers provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture & admonition of the Lord. Nice try, but you fail the test on Scriptures.

the Bible does not talk about correcting a wife with a rod
the Koran may

rage should never be used in discipline, it should be approproate and a child should not be punished for being childish. A child should be corrected for being willfully defiant
in an aproapriate manner for their good and out of love not anger

As your wife how she feels about domestic discipline. She may be quite willing to play! Or if you're too shy to bring it up, the next time an opportunity presents itself, pull her over your lap (playfully) and give her a few swats.

Her reaction should let you know whether this is something she'd be into.

Whack yourself over the head with that rod. That ought to curb your need to hit something.
