Yes, try using ground turkey

1 Large Avocado
2 Onion Rolls
2 Turkey Burgers (seasoned to taste) - Veggie Burger if you do not eat meat.
2 Large Slices of Raw Onion
2 Large Tomato Slices
2 Slices Jack Cheese
Chipotle Mayo
6 Slices of Bacon (For those not counting calories!)
Salt
Pepper
Worcestershire Sauce

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions

Pit and slice avocado, sprinkle salt and pepper on and set aside.
Grill turkey burgers in a grill pan or on an outdoor grill. Salt and pepper to taste. For nice touch, put a little worcestershire on the turkey burger while grilling -- this adds a nice taste to the turkey. Also, try toasting the onion roll in a pan or on the grill. This helps keep the sandwich together. If you do toast the bun, let it cool down before serving. Otherwise, it will fall apart.
When burgers are close to done, top with Jack cheese and let the cheese melt.
Slice the onion rolls.
Place the cooked burgers on onion rolls.
Place plenty of sliced avocado on top of the burger.
Garnish the Burger with Onion, Tomato, and Chipotle Mayo. Salt and Pepper to taste.
For an extreme Turkey Burger - add bacon!
Serve with your favorite side dish.

It is unfortunately almost impossible to make a nutritious burger that tastes good, stories of ground turkey notwithstanding. If the meat is very lean the burger will almost certainly be too dry, unless you're a brilliant cook. For a burger to taste good, the meat has to contain a certain amount of fat - not like half, more like 15%. It keeps the meat moist. I'd rather have a burger that wasn't all that good for me once every couple of weeks, than a disgusting but nutritious burger every day.

However, you could preheat your oven to 170 C, take a portobello mushroom, wipe it with slightly damp kitchen paper to get the black dirt off, rip off the stalk, place the 'shroom frilly-side-up on a baking tray, put a little bit of chopped garlic (like half a chopped clove) in the middle, add a pat of butter no bigger than will fit on a teaspoon, salt and pepper it and put it in the heated oven for 20 minutes; then split and toast a bun, chop some lettuce and a slice of red onion (has to be red, white will be too strong), spread the toasted inside of the bun with a thin film of mustard, then take your cooked mushroom out and assemble the whole thing into a burger, being careful not to spill the lovely buttery garlicky black juice that will be oozing out of the mushroom. Once it's assembled, press down on it; this will cause the juice to soak into the burger bun.

Eat. This is incidentally the greatest veggie burger known to humanity. For vegans, just leave out the butter (and use vegan bread rolls).

Yes it is. Ground turkey, as lean as you can find, is a great nutritious way to make a burger. If you don't want to use ground turkey, x lean ground beef is good, too. Season it with some spices and mix it with a little bit of egg to give it some wetness. Mrs. Dash has some wonderful salt-free seasonings you can season the burger with. Try also adding some spaghetti sauce to the mixture for an Italian-style burger and some mozzarella cheese. There's many ways to be creative and make the ultimate nutritious burger. You can do a web search for recipes.

PORTABELLA Burgers

Marinate the mushroom, for no longer then 10 min.( they absorb very quickly) in:

1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce or Braggs Liquid Aminos (Optional) plus

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil (optional)

1/2 cup red wine vinegar (or equal amount of lemon or lime juice)

3 minced garlic cloves

black pepper, crushed (to taste)

hot sauce, also to taste

Grill or broil the mushrooms until tender, just a couple of minutes per side. The last minute top the mushrooms with a favorite vegan cheese if desired.

Use a whole wheat Pita for a bun or other type vegan bread that is crunchy on the outside, like a French Roll.

You can use any number of condiments.

Lettuce

Red Onions

Choppped Green Chiles

Tomatoes ---- whatever. They are very good and pretty much fat free too.

ENJOY!

If you use lean turkey its nutritious. Try to use salt free seasonings and wheat buns. Top with as many veggies as you wish.

Ground turkey is also good for tacos and chilli.

I use a lowfat ground beef - 95% fat free... I then mix cajun seasoning and worcestershire sauce. The worcestershire keeps them juicy as the low fat beef tends to dry out. I really like the cajun seasoning. Dont need cheese with these burgers!
