Yes this procedure is completely safe for your puppy and I would suggest having him neutered. If you have no desire to breed him it is actually healthier for him to be neutered. It will also eliminate the problem of him starting to "mark his territory, which intact male dogs will do as they get older. I am not sure where you are at, but where I am it is about 50.00 for the cost of neutering. It will also eliminate the chance that he will try to run away when he gets older, intact dogs loose their mind when they smell a female that is in heat and instinct will drive them to try to find her. good luck with you puppy!!!

Personally I believe he should still be neutered. The longer he goes without being neutered the bigger his chances are of getting cancer.
It is a very safe and relatively painless procedure for him. The prices can vary between vets...but check with your local humane society....at different times through the year...they will offer free or low cost spay and neutering services.
This will also keep him from wanting to take off if he is near a female in heat...we have a giant schnauzer that my husband refuses to get neutered...and about 3 times a year he takes off because of different dogs coming into heat around our house. Our vet also told us since he is getting older (he is 6 now....in our years) that he is becoming a prime candidate for cancer and every year his chances go up.

Very safe for the dog and not really expensive. Should be under $100 for a little guy.
Health is the best reason to neuter him.
Most dogs who are not neutered will get an enlarged prostate gland and that can lead to cancer.
It lowers his risk of cancer and he won't have prostate problems
and it is a safe surgery. Do it.

Neutering is by far the best option. An entire dog is full of hormones, and quite honestly just wants to find a female dog to mount. Any dog that cannot do this, but is still full of hormones becomes very frustrated as he cannot get what he wants. This is very cruel and harsh on the dog. Also, testicular cancer is becoming more and more obvious. Neutering solves both of these problems.

Neutering a dog is very normal and will actually help make your dog less active, more healthier, and live a lot longer!
Process is usally between $60-$100 dollars.
Procedure is so common your pup is totally safe!

Yes please neuter him if he is not for breed stock. It will prevent many health and behaviorial issues as he grows older. Older male un neutered dogs are prone to testicular cancer and then he will have to be neutered anyway but his health will be compromised. It is best to neuter when young and healthy.

yes, you should. he will be happier and gentler. cost varies greatly by area, but ask your vet if there is a spay/neuter program in your area, which will give you a discount. the procedure is very safe.
