My 4 yr old daughter was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. For those of you who may not know, it is a disease spread by ticks. They did blood work to find out the diagnosis.... Has anyone elses children (or adults) had this? and how was it treated? The antibiotic they gave her doesnt say anything about working for RMSF.. It does say it works for Lymes disease, which is another tick spread disease..... I know the bad things that can happen so PLEASE dont send them too me 500 more times.. I am just curious about treatments... Thank you

I did ask my dr.. they told me that using tetracycline or doxycycline would stain her teeth.. that we were using the proper meds... I even discussed it with the pharmacist who said he couldnt find any documentation that the med she was given would work... I am just wondering what meds other children were given

If I were in your shoes, I would definitely consult your state or local Health Department Infectious Disease section. They are paid for by tax payers, and thus must address your concerns, and should be up with the latest information available. I warn you, there are *layers* of people before you will get who you want to speak with, but stick with it, you need the most accurate information available.

I would be reluctant to trust either the pharmacist or the primary care doctor in such a case, unfortunately.

Best wishes for you little girl. Give her a hug.
