In order these were my concerns:
safety (people just don't pay attention when driving these days)
mpg ( gas prices--need i say more)
performance ( I don't want to run faster than the car)
Comfort (if you drive long distances)
special features ( do you really need all that xtra stuff??)

Miles per gallon, special features, safety rating, and comfort in that order. It's all important in choosing a car though. All factors must be considered.

I will think miles per gallon and comfort will be my upmost priorty. Second is the cost of maintenance. Then comes safety, special features and performance.

Miles per gallon with the cost of gas now. Secondly reliability. We are Honda people but I think the Hyundai products are very good and the price is the most reasonable for them because they don't have the name recognition that Honda has yet.

Gas mileage, comfort. With gas prices soaring, you need something economical and if you're going to buy new, that means you will probably be making payments so you'll be driving the vehicle for some time, therefore you will definately want comfort as well.

i would look at all of the above. i drive mostly around time so i guess the gas mileage would be the less important. i live in a small town so a tank of gas lasts me for about 2 weeks. i've been looking at the 2007 Pontiac G6 Gtp. great car and it might just fit the bill.

well with gas prices today, that would have to be my first consideration, second would be reliability, third comfort, fourth looks. it just can't be yellow. I wanted the PT, bought one it's nice but grew tired of it because it's low to the ground, bought a used Jeep, leather heated seats, security, ac/ best stereo, it's high up to drive, but man does the gas mileage suck! anyone what to buy a jeep?

i just bought a new car; and I focussed on the comforts and extras I got in comparison to other vehicles in the same price range. As well as the overall image of the vehicle and how it suits my lifestyle.

I think the first thing you should consider before even looking for one is your budget to compromise and choose what category of car you can purchase.
