If you can get to it- check out my 360 page. I have a 2 year old male boston, Caesar, and he is truthfully one of the smartest dogs I've ever encountered. And I say that not as his owner, but as a dog lover.

I don't know anything about pekinese or the breed itself. However, I am picking up my female Boston (Cleopatra- Cleo for short) puppy next week. I'm so excited! She's just now 6 weeks and the breeder said I could pick her up next weekend.

I always thought pekinese were kinda foo-foo show dogs- they don't seem like a pet to me. I don't know why. Bostons are very loyal and loving. Caesar loves to snuggle with me and loves to play keep away with his toys. I would suggest a smaller boston though. They come in three weight classes (under 15lbs, under 20, and over 20). I think the bigger they get the less appealing they are. Caesar is right at 14 pounds and the female I'm getting will be a little smaller- maybe 12lbs. I just think Bostons have more character.

Sorry, you got me going: Bostons are also very good with people, kids, and other dogs. Neighborhood kids love my dog, he's very good with my 2 & 4 year old nephews and my friends infant that came over. They are very easy to train. Ok, I think I said enough, in the end though- it's your decision. I'm always here to talk Boston or anything else.

They are both prone to severe eye problems due to the position they sit in the skull. If you get either one try to get one that doesn't have bug eyes ( for lack of a better term.) Their eyes stick out to far causing them to get hit on things and simply for the pressure to build up behind them for whatever reason. I've seen too many of them with their eyes coming out to get either breed. Having said that I also worked for a specialist in orthopedic surgery that had an eye doctor in the clinic as well so was exposed to many eye cases from 2 states. I guess if you look at it that way the percentage isn't so high. But still.. it's not a pretty picture and it's costly. My little brother has 2 pekes and it's happened to the youngest one already. Luckily they got home quick enough and got her to the vet and the eye was saved.

I like terriers. they're more of "real" dogs and are not mistaken for a piece of fur on the floor.
