You all know Joyce Meyer, the multimillionaire televangelist. When it comes to money she preaches one thing-AND LIVES THE TOTAL OPPOSITE!

Wouldn't be nice to own 5 mansions? A 500K vacation home? 100K cars? A 10 million dollar plane?

And that's not all. If you become Joyce Meyer, you sell books at Wal-Mart were the poor shop, but not if your Joyce! Her clothes are all hand made! You get armed security guards, a 105K boat, $30,000 tables, well you get the picture.

Matt 6:19-21, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth....." ? I'm not bashing her theology, and she's done some good things! I have serious issues with preachers that don't live as a bondservant of Christ, and have issues with wealth and materialism. They won't be telling you this stuff on their next show, but is available online.

If you don't like this question-which is pure fact-then start looking on the net. It's true! It's all over the internet. This link is from the St. Louis Post Dispatch-

Here's a link from a christian website. It is unflattering, and a condensed version. It is based from the series of stories from the St.Louis Post Dispatch.

NOTE: I did a question, using reputable sources, about Benny Hinn's wealth. No one supported him. Why all the support for Joyce Meyer?

I'm not jealous of this multimillionaire, that doesn't live like a bondservant of Christ. And a lot televangelists live like this. Why do people support this woman's millionaire lifestyle, but bash Benny Hinn's?

Anthony, I couldn't agree with you more. This is a real problem that I have with televangelists who flaunt money and spend it to live extravagant lifestyles for themselves.

I wrote letters last year to all of the televangelists on tv-they all pretty much live this way. T.D. Jakes, Joel O'Steen, Pat Robertson, etc.. . Perhaps the only one who lives somewhat modestly is Charles Stanley, but you may tell me the same is true of him, I don't know.

I wrote the letters to ask for financial statements in order to see how much of their donations were being spent on ministries to the poor. I criticized them for raking in so much money and taking advantage of poor people who send money that they really can't afford to send. And I couldn't understand why poverty and homelessness in this country STILL exists. I asked them why they weren't doing anything to help end it.
Certainly if all of these super-churches pooled their monies together, they could put a good dent into it.

I also criticized them for spending what seems like most of their monies on missions to countries like Africa and India. I told them if the Federal Government spends Bilions of taxpayers' monies in these countries, then why did they feel they also had to do so?

Don't get me wrong, I think money should be spent in these countries if they really need it. But we're not seeing any results.

I have to tell you that I did not get a single letter back from any of the ministries I wrote to, except a form letter from Joyce Meyer Ministries and a free video and booklet on the subject of "Hope". So I know that my letter was either not read or ignored.

We have all seen the demise of the PTL ministries. GOD will bring these people down eventually, if they are not carrying out HIS plan or being obedient to HIM.

Thank you for the provocative question and exposing the truth of these ministries.

Well the love of money is the root of all evil. If that is so then so be it. You will be able to identify what is happening with all the money she is making but you will never ever be able to look inside her head and find her REAL motives. If she has made her life a money market then shame thats sad.

What is your intention if it is to show that Christianity is the wrong religion because of an example of one woman then thats lame and poor. If it is to point fingers to her and say she is a scam then dont worry other people would probably see that before you and would take a stand against it...You think you the only one to see that she is using or making her money the wrong way???

There are many people out there and ya in the Bible it talks about the Wolves in Sheeps clothing (those who decieve in rightous works). Rather worry about yourself and make sure if you are really living a respectful life both by loved ones and others.

I believe what you are saying, it is not only her but all TV evangelists, But that does not have anything to do with true Christananity, Because a True Christain will not want all of these worldly goods. Don't try to condeme True Christains by what some greedy people has done, I am not like that & my pastor has been around this world 4 times preaching & & we don't even pass a offering plate at church, We believe in paying our tithes. And my pastor does not have a fancy place to live, but a very small place, & he drives a medium price used car, & the assistant pastors work remodeling houses.

I have no problem with that. The woman works very hard, she is a smart business woman and she loves the Lord. There is nothing wrong with a Christian, preacher, or Evangelist being wealthy. For years the church was poor and never had enough to help others, now that its changing, people are jealous. You don't know how much she gives to the church or other charities. If she didn't tithe and give offerings, she wouldn't be so blessed.

we all have our faults as Christians. and i would agree with you if this is fact. i will check out the site. my husband doesn't like Benny hinn because he also lives his life the same way the lady you mentioned including thousands on hotel rooms and paying his kids to be lazy. it was in TV. i believe dateline aired it. i don't like it when preachers, ministers or pastors care more about selling their books and such and speak less on gods word. i went to a women's bible conference and a woman turned it into a slam against the possibility that Hillary Clinton trying for the presidency. I'm a woman and i wouldn't vote for her. now if Oprah or Leesa gibbons or Maria Shriver (arnalds wife) ran then i would vote for one of them.but she shouldn't have use a bible event to mostly slam a politician

Didn't you ask this same question yesterday? If she's a true hypocrite, she'll get her due reward in the end, just like we all will.
And that includes you, dude. Who amoung you is without sin? Prosperity preachers are a dime a dozen, but God is keeping track of all of them, you can count on it.

People like that sicken me. Televangelists should all be imprisoned.

Oh, and to the person who answered with "Bill Gates and Angelina Jolie who give large amounts of money to help humanity." Don't think so highly of them. Its easy to give money and time when you have the fortunes they do. They are no better than any of the rest of us.

That's really cold. I'm sure there's a better explanation to all that than what you think.

Anyway, you're guilty of not loving because 'love believes all things'!

I wouldn't bash Benny Hinn either!

If someone didn't spend money, I wouldn't be a Christian today.

According to scripture, Paul visited Peter in Rome and had a disagreement with him on how Peter was running his ministry. Peter was preaching one thing, and practicing another.
In religion, we have always looked to certain people and elevated them up to be religious and spiritual leaders. We give them a lot of power and money, then mock them when they are wealthy and we are not. I remember, when I was younger, I would see Joyce Meyer's show in the mornings before school. Then she was just starting out and she didn't have the money she does now. She had glasses, not as nice hair and she looked so much older; she really did look like a old lady. Now I see her on television with her much younger look, new contact lenses, and corporate jets, big houses, nice cars. Though it isn't just Joyce Meyers. It's Benny Hin, Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, and everyone on the TBN Network.
I think people like Joyce Meyer are doing exactly what they do because people like the many mindless followers, blindly give her money instead of building themselves up. They buy her tapes, DVD's, they give large amounts of money to her organization, and what do you think she is going to do with it?

I think, however, we have a big hang up when it comes to spirituality and money. We tend to think if you're spiritual, you have to be poor. This is not true. Jesus wasn't poor... and even when Paul calls himself a Bondservant, he isn't poor. There were people funding his ministry, which allowed him to travel and have time to write. I mean, how easy would it be to travel spreading the good news, if you had to worry about a mortgage payment, or whether you're going to be able pay the house payment this week?
It comes down to this... if you look for answers outside of yourself, instead of what Jesus said- The Kingdome of Heaven is within you, then you'll get taken for a loop by people who simply want to get rich. It isn't just Joyce. Think about how much more money the Roman Catholic Church makes, or the CBN Network, I bet Pat Robertson could give Joyce a run for her money with all the stuff he has. It just shows that they are just like everyone else. I think maybe you could get over your hang up, though and strive to be wealthy yourself.

I really like her. I watch her tv program and I've read some of her books. It's not our job to judge other people on how they live their lives. She loves Jesus and is a faithful christian. God does want us to prosper, and if she lost everything she has, then she would dust herself off and start all over again with the same faith. Take care.
