I seek God with a whole heart and the closer I get to him the more that I don't have to try, it just comes natural to love people and want to make their day.....Unfortunately, you have to know the ones who will kick the crud out of that sweetness, so to speak, and know who they are....That is where the scripture to be wise as a serpent, but harmless as a dove comes in....Thank God, mean people are certainly not the majority.
I have been blind-sided so many times by the religiously hateful while I was being kind and just at peace....It is extremely painful and it has taught me to recognize that spirit when I see it....So, I am guarded around them.... As much as we think we can do it, you just cannot snuggle up with a venomous snake and not get hurt...

I like the question, very thoughtful and evocative...
There is a negative to this though....
the analogy is that moths swarm around the bright lights...the more you help, the more your help is needed, then required and then ultimately misused and abused...
Smiles and a kind word are central to the success of my business, something that I don't think I have got the market on in my line of work but somehow other people forget at times...strange indeed....

I have always tried to do this. Some days its harder than others. I have found that when I am having a bad day it makes it so much better to try to make someone elses day a little brighter instead of dumping my problems all over them. I still have a little trouble with that sometimes but I feel like I am getting better and maybe a little less selfish. I still have to pray everyday about it though. But God knows that I am trying and I think that He helps me so much more because of that. Have a Blessed day!!!! :)

Good point Debra. The path of love is simple - not requiring convoluted twists and turns of mind and heart to understand... straightforward to put into action in everyday life.
Thank you for extending your peace... back at ya! :-)

Well, I'm a christian, but I live my life this way not as a christian duty, but because it's just the right thing to do. It's like planting seeds. You plant a happy seed, or a hopeful seed, or an encouraging seed, and who knows what could grow from it? You could change a person's life without even knowing it, so shouldn't you be planting good seeds, and not bad seeds?

You have returned...surprise surprise...miracles never cease...
I always thought that one must always begin with honesty...so sadly I can only claim that I try to be a light to others 70% of the time...the rest of the 30% is still pretty much a work in progress...

No, i do no longer play the lottery. needless to say the percentages might properly be expected for it, and there are a bazillion possible effects. no longer so with the existence of God. the two he exists or he does not. considering all of us return to airborne dirt and dirt interior the top, ignored probability is no longer that important interior the long-term. once I die, they gained't make me any much less ineffective. Oh, and a few Christians have not got a situation with playing. you have under no circumstances heard of Bingo? :)

Absolutely! Jesus taught love and tolerance, not hate and judgment. I always try and think of the song "They Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love", so that I can snap the stereotype that all Christians are intolerant and preachy. Great question!

Debra you sound like a genuinely nice person,
You would be a nice person regardless of religion. But because your faith enhances and strengthens you , no one should put it down.
I respect people of faith, I just don't care for hypocrite's.
