Personally, I am looking forward to being in Heaven, but apprehensive about the dying part. I think because it's fear of the unknown and not being in control of what is going on. :)

Genuine Christians are not afraid of dying, they look forward to going to heaven and be with Jesus, I know people like that.
If some people consider themselves christians and are afraid of dying it's because one of these reasons:
- They may be genuine Chirstians but are so critical that have a lot of questions that cause them to do doubt, for example: will there really be a hell? What if some of the teachings about Christianity are wrong? things like that.Maybe I'm in that category.
- They may be genuine Christians but they have some sins that they still struggle with, therefore, they wonder if they have been forgiven or if they have really been converted. They are afraid because they have no assurence of their salvation.
- They think they are Christians because they go to church and read the Bible, but they are not, therefore they don't have any convitions about heaven .

I want to make sure that I do my best to spread the Gospel while i am living on Earth. I am young and would like to live a life which God provided me with but again I am not afraid of Death only dying. That I find disturbing especially being tortured but hey its Gods plan for me. He makes the decisions if I was to die now or die at a later stage. Its in His hands

I'm not so sure I completely believe in God/ Jesus... I know there is something-- I've been to war, saw some ....pretty unexplained ....things...
....That would take but only a supernatural "being" to have been present....I can't explain that...
Anyway... I believe this is hell... What we are living in now, is hell. I also don't really know what you're asking.. I know, but I don't know because it's a large generalization.
It's not like anyone of us (on the fence believers) or "christians" or anybody for that matter would want to die and ....just go away forever without leaving something positive for those they've left behind.
And I'm not talking about ....materialistic stuff... I'm speaking of finances, etc... which could be deemed materials, however, in America, it's more like a digit or a quote; a figure.
Who would want to leave their kids in financial trouble only to know that after you pass on, your kids would be taken to jail and be not only suffering the loss of their mother/ father, but having to be depressed by living in jail and possibly being mistreated, etc...??
Maybe it's not like that where you are from, but for America... it is hell.. And, well, I have my reasons with the govt.. I'm sure if you oppose our admin, than you can relate to how I feel in a way-- as I'm currently being held hostage for an event that happened in Iraq with....sensitive crap...forget it...
But anyway, if that were not true, than the Muslims seen on T.V. wouldn't be complaining about their experience whilst they were held captive....
I don't think anyone wants to die. I think you're viewing it the wrong way-- misinterpreting the whole idea.

where do you get this question? are you sure Christians believe this and not non Christians?
i am naturally afraid to die, but i am also not, because i know i will go to heaven without a doubt. God knows who i am and that i asked Jesus to save me.
by the way, once you ask for forgiveness and to be saved the promise of God is eternal salvation and heaven. God doesn't lie or change His promises.
take care

I have no fear of dying,I almost did one time. To be absent from the body is to be with Christ Jesus. Where is fear in that? I hope my funeral will be a joyful one as I am just going home.
I have been a Hospice worker and the most beautiful experience is to watch a Saint, march into Heaven with a smile on their face, and no fear in their eyes. There is such Peace, you can't explain it.
Where did you get your information that Christians were afraid of dying? It has not been my experience.

I'm agnostic and I'm afraid of dying. I think everyone is to some degree. The part that I dislike the most about death is that I will not get to see the rest of the story (the story of life.) Where will humanity go next. etc. Its like reading a book only halfway. Sucks!

This is a first.
Whoever told you most Christians are afraid of dying they're wrong. There are tons of Christians which also includes catholics since that is a type of christian. But if you really need an answer I'd probably just not want my life to end to keep it plain and simple.

I'm a Christian, and i'm not afraid of dying. Leaving this broken down world and go to a place where there will be no sadness and pain, isn't that better? I'm so looking forward to go home to my Heavenly Father.
"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." [Philippians 1:21]
People are afraid because they doesn't know where will they be going after death.

Christians aren't afraid of dying, most of them look forward to it.
I think you are talking about people who naturally have a fear of HOW (method) they will die, and not dying itself.
If that is the case, then most Christians don't fear that, either. GOD has a way to take us out of suffering and pain in the moments that we need HIM most.
