"If the first American settlers were English, then how come there are still Englishmen?"
Once they develop their intellectual talents to the point where they can appreciate just how stupid that question (above) is, then (hopefully) they should be able to comprehend the stupidity of the monkey question.

yadda yadda yadda Zoo...yadda yadda yadda monkeys...
It's because they misunderstand - or indeed have been misquoted - the idea of evolution. They have been led to believe that modern man evolved from apes, and they look at apes and monkeys and say "well why haven't they evolved then? Surely that proves you're talking nonsense?"
What they SHOULD have been told, probably, is that humans and apes had a common ancestor, the small primate that evolved into larger varieties in the wake of the dinosaur extinction.
Incidentally, for anyone curious as to why there are still monkeys...essentially, they never came down from the trees, never needed to walk upright, and never faced any of the other challenges that led mankind to where it is now. They have probably evolved significantly from their original days, but they've evolved to meet the challenges of THEIR environment, not the challenges of ours.

They are ignorant and don't know a thing about the evolution because they close their ears whenever it's brought up.
For the people who ask such dumb questions: The theory doesn't say we are descendants of monkeys. It says that humans and monkeys have a common ancestor and developed into two different species, humans and monkeys.

Falco said it right
All over Africa etc (it is/was a huge continent) there were only a few that descended from the tree and found it necessary to explore. Those that stay up high didn't have the need to walk upright. That essential is where we branched off and eventually formed another species.
Maybe if people picked up another book other than the bible to read they would know how things happened in the world

They don't understand or refuse to try to understand evolution.
One common misconception is that humans (who ARE animals BTW, sorry fundies!) came from monkeys. We didn't come FROM them, rather we had a common ancestor.

Monkeys are brilliant...they throw poo at each other...you can not engineer such perfection out of nature, not even through evolution...

Don't lump all Christians into one group: Not all Christians are unwilling to accept or consider the theory of evolution.

some don't understand the basic fundamentals of evolution.
The first 2 answers are proof of this.
