I recently attended the orthodontist last week and she has recommended that I have the damon 3 brace fitted as opposed to the normal one. I am very dubious about this as I feel that she is only recommending this as she knows that I have a fear of dentists. If I opt for the normal one I will have to have 3 teeth removed. However I have tried to reassure that if she thinks that the normal ones are the way to go then Ill just have to get over my fear and get the teeth removed. She has said in her recommendation that she would prefere to fit the upper brace first than about 3 months later fit the lower, the reason for this being I might have to get a lower tooth removed for the damon but she cant say as of yet!! Can someone please tell me of their expereinces with the Damon 3 brace, I have looked up the Website and all of that but I am concerned that having the Damon brace as opposed to the regular one will really broaden my face, as thats the common phrase used "BROAD SMILE" Help please

PS
I would also like to hear of people who have completed their damon 3 brace treatment, as I would like to know is there a high likelyhood of movement seeing as you didn't have to remove any teeth??

Damon brackets are wonderful they were invented here in Spokane WA were i live by Dr Damon. these braces lesson your wear time, shorten checkup visits, overall easier to work with and also look better. Cindy Crawford wore Damon brackets. Dr Damon is a very bright, awsome dentist and knows braces he worked very hard and long on inventing these they werent just an overnight invention or a get rich quick scheme

i don't know what a damon brace is but a good friend of mine had surgery over the summer to widen her top jaw. the dentist said her mouth was too narrow and she was only making contact with her bottom jaw with just two teeth. she also sufferes from migraines. so the surgeon made a large cut through her top jaw and she had to take a key and crank it two notches twice a day. this took her two front teeth apart 1 cm. her orthodontist made a fake tooth so the gap wouldn't be so noticeable. she now has braces and he will adjust the fake tooth as the gap narrows.

i don't advise having teeth taken out, you can't put them back in one they are gone. i know of two people who's dentist removed teeth and now they have a shrunken in appearance.

i am no professional...but you need to be sure that you are doing the right thing. a second opinion wouldn't hurt.
