I am about to embark upon a part time MBA in October. (24 Female). My employer is willing to pay 50% of the fees, which leave a total of £3,500 for me to pay.

Is this good?

I don't see what this has to do with ETIQUETTE but anyway ...
I think a lot of the previous answers were swayed by money. A degree is a degree. A masters degree is a master's degree, higher by definition. If it is a good degree depends on for what you want to use it. If you want a career in health care, it's not as good as a degree in medicine or something as relevant. I didn't even graduate high school and I lie about my credentials. And so far I have found that just the belief that a person has studied to a certain level is enough to justify paying them about 46,500 GBP per year for a job anyone with an ounce of common could do. Given, there are a lot of people who don't even have that but it goes to show that appearances matter. If you have the chance to better yourself and with the help of your employer, I say make use of it. But it's also important to consider if there is anything else you'd rather do. Think about what you'd like to be doing 10 years down the line. B well.

You seem to have loads of positive replies to this question,
So here's my few comments .........

Locations - An MBA seems to work well in a city environment, when it comes to goodly employment & paying off that debt.
I wouldn't say it would work well in remote areas, though, unless you work from home.

Or travel - I found with my MSc I could wander around the globe a bit, and be accepted nicely into a lot of places for employment.

Overall, though, I'd think go for it. Should be worth it.
Just don't put it on your CV to become a goatherd in Outer Mongolia or somesuch.

Best of Luck with it.

yes, it is definetly good if u r doing it from a reputed institute.
But first of all u should think that , are u intrested in the job profile of manager & have u skills of a manager. If u r not a very bold person & have not a dominating personality then how will u do that job. and if u are a technical person and love ur technical job then u need not to go for mba. it all depends on u and ur interest..
bye

Well, if it's the MBA I know, all it gives you is a guaranteed job with a top company. Also, MBAs can cost up to 25 grand and you're getting it for much less.
So, if you think that's a good thing, then yes.

I did an MSc and it genuinely provides an aspect. it demonstrates that you've the skill to study and carry advice to an extremely severe element and that you've the dedication to finish a lengthy time period project. I believe the remark made that BA/ BSc degrees are being given out like they're going out of trend. 1000's of graduates are being un;eashed in accordance to annum. submit-grads are a rarer breed immediately. observe that once you probably did your first degree it is going to seem as if a walk contained in the park compared to what's envisioned of you at masters element. The analyze requirement is surprising yet properly worth it once you graduate. good success along with your analyze.

going for mba is definately very good but before u accept this offer, check if there's any catch in it.. generally companies dont sponsor higher studies without making u sign a bond.. if that is the case check the time period.. if its for 1 or 2 yrs, go for it.. if its more than 5 yrs bond.. try sponsoring whole fees urself by takin loan or somethin.. u'll get much better job after u finish ur master's..

Hell yeah,

I'm studying for my MA and have to pay all the fees myself :(, and if your employer is willing to pay half, surely that shows you it's worth having, else they wouldn't pay for any at all!
