The fact that a scientist is a Christian does not prove the existence of God.

The fact that a great person is a Christian does not prove the existence of God.

Your logic is horribly, horribly flawed.

So you're saying since great scientists are rational, and some great scientists were christians, all christians are therefore rational? Give me a break. There are rational people and irrational people, both christian and non-christian alike. Stop inflating the importance of your own belief system.

And mother teresa does not deserve sainthood or the nobel prize. Her facilities were always strong on religious instruction and lacking in diagnostic and medical treatment, but when she got sick, she always left and sought out the best treatment in the world, elsewhere. She accepted donations from people who defrauded investors in exchange for requests for leniency to the judges presiding, then refused to return the money to the people it was stolen from in the first place. Mother Teresa was not a good person, she was focused primarily not on preventing disease or living like the poor, but on converting the dying before they slipped away.

As I pointed out when you posted this same question earlier (but then deleted it, apparently), we call the intolerant bigots "intolerant bigots". Some of us mistakenly come to believe that all Christians are intolerant bigots, but that doesn't change the fact that the ones who are intolerant bigots...are intolerant bigots.

Posting a list of ones who aren't doesn't change the fact that many are.

You would do a lot better to aim your efforts at the cause of the problem: the Christians whose behavior leads the rest of us to draw our sometimes unwarranted (but often right-on-the-mark) conclusions. The reason why Christians get negative comments is that so many Christians behave so badly explicitly in the name of Christianity. It's simply dishonest to blame the problem on "slander" from others.

Cure the disease, and the symptoms will go away.

You make a good point, but just because a person is bad doesn't make them Christian and just because they're Christian doesn't mean they are bad. I think its almost 50-50. Christianity is slandered and Christianity is also bigoted etc etc.
You could make a hundred very valid points and no one will listen. This section is proof to that, how long have people been discussing religion here and people are still arguing and making nasty statements to each other? People never learn. Give up before it drives you mad.

Violence, intolerance exist to pave way for peace and tranquility. On the other hand, tranquility being sustained for a while paves way for new ideas dawn on the horizon which gets in to direct conflict with convictions and wrong ideas that resulted in darkness. The conflict of ideas lead to volatile eruptions that often result in loss of peace. It is a cyclical process forming the core of history and has no direct co-relation to any particular religion.

You could list many counter-examples, too, Hitler being a prominent one. Most people, no matter what their religious superstitions, are good people and intelligent. Many religious people are intelligent people who just seem to have blinders on.

There are many messages of the Bible, including love, hate, bigotry, tolerance, and many other contradictory points of view.

As far as listing good Christians goes, I can do the same with atheists. As people's education level goes up, the percentage of them who are atheists increases. So, there are many atheists who are intelligent and mentors. The link lists a few:

Just because you are a Christian, doesn't mean your perfect or never make mistakes, we are all still human. I think the intolerant ones are the ones who pick at Christians, especially if they see a mistake.

Jesus thought us to forgive each other, even our enemys. But at the same time I think it is right to defend your beliefs when they are under attack, I am with you on that and I Hope in Jesus that I can be strong and follow that example. By the way, sorry for all the modifications.

Amen to that. These are scientist and inventors that God gave great abilities and they used them for the good of mankind and I respect that.

So what? You're all going to Heaven, we're going to Hell, shut up and accept persecution if you think you're chosen above others!
