Most adhesives sold at hardwares maybe harmful at some point but can be used to bind most materials, although binding organic materials such as corn may need an additional process in order to make it resist biodegradability. Some chemical companies provide for solutions/chemicals for this, although may not be safe to use by minors and non-professionals.

If you are trying to make a table out of organic materials, use old papers, dried leaves, and other tree/plant parts dried and made to a powder form before making a pulp. At this point, ordinary glue may be used to bind the particles, but you will need a cast that won't stick with your mixture in order to finish a table.

try to use cornstarch by boiling a cup of water and melting a 2 spoonful of cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water. Then pour the cornstarch mixture but stir it immediately so as to create a smooth sticky substance. Try it. But be sure to refrigerate the unused cornstarch for future use. Good luck to your investigatory project!
