I think it would have to do with that particular teens maturity level, not necessarily their age. What do you think?

I agree, it's all about maturity level and you can always do a test run with the teenager. Maybe only go to the store or something and come back to see how it goes. It also depends on how well you child behaves too. I think 13-14 is a good age for a teenager to babysit.

i actually started baby-sitting when i was 9 yrs old but it all depends on the person and the teenager and it also depends how old the children and the conditions of the way your teen treats others but i know right now i would not let my son due to him having adhd but i was very much mature when i statred to tend to others children i was also raised in a very strict home and i am now 32 and i am a nanny for several families and i have been a nanny for almost all of my friends children and other people other then my friends and i am very well but it all depends on the age of the teen the age of the children and how they deal with other children such as brothers and sisters who are younger and or older and wether you can trust him or her by themselves also so it depends on repsonsiblity also

Yeah. But, for mature kids, I'd give em until they're old enough to be by themselves, for legal purposes. I think that's eleven or twelve. I started baby-sitting when I was 10 or 11 I think... And I did a pretty damn good job. Changed diapers, made lunches and dinners, no hurt or upset kids to date. Also, if you're getting a baby sitter for your pre-teens, make sure they've got a couple years on them. Even if it's only two, the kid will still listen to and respect them.

I definitely agree. Also depends on the ages of the children you want them to babysit. For example, I would not let some 16 yr old babysit for my 1 yr old

Definetly based on maturity level. Definetly by 15/16 but if you 13/14 yr. old is responsible then I think that is cool.

Would depend on the age of both the sitter and the one being sitted. But i wouldn't go much under 15 personally. I would also rather have one who has younger siblings also then a only child.

I trust the teen that I leave my kids with, she is 15. I know her and her family and her mom stays home anytime that she is babysitting so if she needs help some one is right there.

It is very dangerous to leave a kid with a teenager! Teenagers are not enough matured to take care of your kid! However, i would allow that if the kid was clever and quiet!
