The best thing to remember for any social situation in which you feel uncomfortable is to take cues from the people around you. If other women will be hanging around while the men play poker, watch how they act. If you drink, alcohol could definitely help you loosen up, but if all the other ladies are sipping wine, you probably don't want to down three shots right away. Also, ask your boyfriend introduce you to friends and their girlfriends before the poker starts, so you don't have to introduce yourself. As far as clothing, you should definitely wear clothes you feel comfortable in, but ask your boyfriend what he's going to wear. If he's going kind of dressy, you should be more dressy too. You'll be fine! Have fun.

Wear whatever your style is. Why can't you play poker too? Have a drink, something to eat, chat with people - there will are a lot of people there, surely you'll find someone to chitchat ,
If you still feel uncomfortable tell your boyfriend that you don't want to be there. He should care about that.
But parties are supposed to be fun so why worry, relax everybody there just wants to have a good time. Act friendly but not over friendly, smile.

It is hard to give you an answer since I don't know how long you and your boyfriend have been together.
However, ask yourself if you really want to do this. Do you like poker? Do you want to know about poker? Weigh the price you will pay being in that big party against the need of the relationship. Do you always have to be with your boyfriend? Does he want you there? Is he insisting you be there? Are YOU insisting you be there?
If you are that unconfortable, can you have a girl's night out with girlfriends? Is this allowed?

Dressy Jeans and a nice top. I bet if you go ..which means pushing beyond the limits of what you would normally do ...you may just find out that you CAN do this and have a good time...find someone else to talk to..make new friends even, etc. BUT, sometimes we are who we are and you're just not going to be comfortable in a situation like that ever. But the bottom line is we ALL have to do those things sometimes...part of being an adult..and part of what we do for those we love. Give and Take...either way then?...it will be worth it..but, hope you enjoy!!

Wear something casual and comfortable. When you arrive you will probably be introduced to the other wife's and girlfriends. I am sure you will find someone to buddy up with and just enjoy yourself. You don't have to be a social butterfly just go with the attitude that it will be a fun experience and be open to meeting new people. It won't be a bad as you think.

You know what loosens me up on a place where I know no one? I take a few shots. But I normally bring someone else along with me so I won't feel too lonely. But yeah, take a few drinks. Just don't get drunk! And bring some gum or something else to kill the bad odor.

You will probably find other wives/girlfriends who feel exactly the same way. Once you are there you will probably meet some other females and you will find something to do. I myself hate going places like that. I usually find that once I'm there it's not as bad as I thought it would be.
Good luck and try not to stress too much about it.

You do not have to be shy! There is no reason! You will go with your boyfriend who will protect you! Do not be afraid because you will face a lot of people! You can wear a modern jean with a very sexy blouse above! You have to be confident and everything will be perfect!
