"Fulfilled Prophecies"
It's easy to selectively read any old text and find predictions that came true.

"Unique Historical Accuracy"
BS. There are tons of unsubstantianted claims about history in the bible.

"Scientific Accuracy"
It's also easy to selectively read an old text and find statements that kinda sound like they predict what was proven scientifically true. Use the bible to make a grand prediction about the laws that govern the universe BEFORE it's proven true, or even mentioned elsewhere, and if you're right I'll be impressed.

"Unique Structure"
Blatant lies. It's full of slight inconsistencies and reads like some of the authors had multiple personalities.

"Bible's Unique Effect"
Replace "Bible" with "Quran" or "Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster", it still holds true, as it's completely unsubstantiated.

Very good question. Shows you're thinking. You say you believe in it, but apparently you have your own thoughts about it.
What makes me so skeptical is that there are so many different "bibles", or teachings or whatever you want to call them. The Christian church's mission was to spread their belief throughout the world. Now the Moslem's are on that mission...what next? Buddhism? Everybody believes their own teaching...son no one can say which one or if any is true.
I think you have to decide whether or not you want to believe...if so , don't delve in it too deeply, or you will become a skeptic.

Bible is true if it gives satisfying answers to all your problems.Mental, physical, fiscal and spiritual. Bible is true if it helps to sort out all social problems and conflicts. Bible is true if all the people in the world is able to live peacefully and amicably. Bible is true if at least the Christians live peacefully and amicably.

since bible cannot pass any of the above tests, Bible is not true....

Well, if we knew it was true, then there would be no faith. Also, if we knew it was true, there'd be a worldwide renouncing of God as an evil, jealous, vengeful, murdering entity whose sole purpose for creating us was to worship at his feet, and who will punish us for all eternity for the slightest transgression... but who claims he loves us, like an alcoholic, abusive father.

You can tell just reading it how hypocritical it is.

Common sense says to me, not believe anything is true when it can't even get its facts right from the beginning.

Lets get them and recycle them into something useful

We know the bible is true because the bible says the bible is true and if the bible says the bible is true then the bible must be true.

Easy, innit?

God put evidence in His word so we wouldn't be left with just blind faith. Mind now it's evidence not proof. If there was proof then faith wouldn't be required and it's our faith in Him that saves us. Psalms 22:14-18. Read just that much and start to see the evidence....Jim

The bible (or any religious book) is a book of faith, not knowledge. No one KNOWS that there is a god or gods or no god.

However, many religious books do give us guidance on how to live our lives. This is the truth in them.
