I'm guessing you're American. Check the State Department website (www.state.gov) for requirements on how to apply for a passport and where you can do it. The forms are available on the website. Don't forget your photos. Most passport places have limited hours, some by appointment only.

You don't need to apply for a visa ahead of time to enter the Philippines if you intend to visit for less than 21 days. If you or a member of your family traveling with you is a current or former Philippine national, you can stay up to a year under Balikbayan rules. Other than that, contact the Philippine consulate for the forms and requirements.

And allow some time for processing. Expediting anything will cost you.
