Your parents don't have a right to snoop just because they pay for everything and you live under their roof.
They have a right to snoop because they LOVE you and they worry about you
WHY are YOU causing them to WORRY?
What behavior are you expressing that cause them to think you are hiding something?
TRUST IS EARNED.
You should feel very lucky that your parents care enough about you to snoop. Some parents are just too lazy to check on their children.
YOU could circumvent this, actually. You could go to your parents and ask them what it is they want to know.
They are probably worried that you are using drugs or hanging around the wrong crowd. Or they might be worried that you have a boyfriend and are not telling them for some reason. Or they may be worried that you are having sex too early.
BY THE WAY, if you are not living on your own and able to support yourself, it's too early for you to have sex.
So, alleviate your parents concerns, and talk to them. Ask them their advice on things. That's how you build trust.
If you are too embarrassed to bring things up to your parents, you shouldn't be doing or thinking about those things, and YOU KNOW IT.

unfortunately yes
your parents are responsible for you. They have to make sure that you grow up to be a good person. so if they have to snoop around because the suspect something is not not right , then that gives them the right. I'm sure your parents love you and don't want you to make any mistakes that you would regret later when you are not an adult.
So either be honest and open with them or don't bring anything in the house that you don't want them to see

Yes, when you live with your parents you are in a police state, under martial law.
They are your benevolent dictators controlling your environement for your own good with the best of intentions.
You'll have plenty of time to make your own choices, and mistakes when you move out. But while you live with them they have every right to help thwart some of those mistakes.
Also, as a few extreme examples:
If Kip Kinkle or Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris' parents had "snooped" a few lives (including those three's) couldve been saved.

Yes. Until you leave home, life is a dictatorship and they are cruel rulers. Click on my image and go to my Yahoo 360 page. You will find a pie graph there to save to your computer and print it. It show how little time your parents have to influence you life, compared to how much time you can do whatever you want. Yes, that first 18 years seems like a very long time, but at age 50, I realize just how short it is.
Privacy is an adult benefit which you earn the right to. Unfortunately, females are allowed to become legal adults six years before they become adults, and males get it 18 years before.

Yes, they are responciable for you. They need to know how your life is going and snooping is a tool for them. They could go to farther means to spy on you and keep tabs on you so snooping is better than all out searches. Your actions can come back on them so cut them some slake, they care about you.

Absolutely! The world is a dangerous place these days and your parents absolutely have the right to know what you are up to and the fact is that if you weren't doing anything wrong you wouldn't have anything to hide and there wouldn't be anything for them to find. Sorry but they are just doing their job! Consider yourself lucky, you could be a kid that didn't have a soul in the world that cared what they were up to!

Well, you belong to them so I guess its up to them. But you should talk to you parents and tell them that you need to have privacy. My parents dont go through my stuff but my friends' parents do. It depends on the family. All you can do is talk to your paretns and tell them how you feel. You shouldnt be scared to tell them what you want.

no, you are entitled to your own privacy...but to tell you the truth all parents snoop, just hide things better next time. Or start paying rent and then do what ever you want.
