In Matthew 25 the lazy servant was cast into "outer darkness ."(not fiery Hell). Where is "outer darkness"?

It is hell, hell is described as many things in the bible sometimes simply a 'place where god is not'

Hell is multi-dimensional just like heaven. The first level a place of darkness. Then places with rotting corpses, or types of life-forms humans create by their spirit through their energy and fears. On to the Lake of Fire which I personally consider to be a cosmic recycler. Where a spirit gets caught in, due its own
stupidity, but hangs on due to the will to survive. And it ain't
pretty.
Don't be simple. Read other peoples views like the Greeks,
or Dantes Inferno. Both of which talk about the Nine Rings of
Hell.

Answer 1 is right on. The Bible uses many different symbols to illustrate things. Fire is a symbol of judgment, darkness a symbol of God's absence since He is light. Both are true of hell depending on which point the Author is making.

I've spent a lot of time in my life explaining hell as the "complete and utter absence of God" and how actually horrible something like that would be. enough to make pushing a bolder up a hill every day seem fun

In Matthew 25, Jesus was talking to the disciples about the the last days.

I believe He was addressing believers and not non-believers. What we do in this life makes a difference for eternity. Heaven will not be the same for every believer.
