I don't like the movies. The reason being is on a first date I want to get to know a person and make them laugh a little. I can't do that if I'm watching a movie for 2-3 hours. I tend to be seeking peeks at her sitting besides me and then my mind starts to wonder what she is thinking. Then I lose track of the movie. Movies are not a good first date.
In the eating department, I never order spaghetti on a first date. The last thing I need is her to see is me enjoying God's favorite tasting mess. Spaghetti can screw you up on a first date. She may get this idea that I eat like this all the time. No spaghetti either.

Well - I know you said no dirty answers - but I mean this - never go to bed on the first, second, third, fourth date, etc.

A funeral, a wake or a memorial dinner...
I got asked recently, if I wanted to go to a memorial dinner being held on a saturday night, of someone who had been killed, (I didn't know them) by a man 30 years older than me.... What had happened to the person was horrible, but I just thought it was a rather innapropriate date....

A movie (unless one of you or both of you are pathologically shy and you need to break the ice somehow).
Movies are so passive. Personally I would want to get to know the other person and listen to her, so it should be a place where one can talk and hear.

anywhere where theres a big screen or a loud sound system, you cant talk or anything like that so you dont get to know each other better which defeats the purpose
