First off, I am going to correct your question:

"What is tar, produced by a cigarette, like?"

You seem to have a bright and inquisitive mind. Type that way. More people will take you seriously.

Now, to answer your question, have some one that smokes exhale their cigarette smoke through a single-ply paper towel or napking. Ask them to do this in the same spot for about 5 puffs. The yellowish-blackish goo that is on the napkin would otherwise be in their lungs. Pretty nasty, eh? Imagine what 40 years of that crap would look like.

If you want to know, then do this:
1. Light a cigarette
2. Take a deep puff without inhaling and hold the smoke
3. Blow the smoke through a tissue/handkerchief placed flat over your mouth
You will see the result. Remember, this is just one puff!
