We don't. Some of it is tradition like white for purity, red for passion, green or blue for calm, simple psychology too. Humans seem to react to certain colours in a predictable manner. Use your own brain is always better than listening to pundits.

colorations exhibit emotion using fact they seem to be a infinite palette that are used to rouse a reaction. needless to say using color is planned, or each and every portray could be in black and white.

pl make few paintings ... just one at time and after a gap of at least 3 weeks, when you finish painting jot down what was your mood during that period/when u started it, and analise it ... don't make it deliberate

Because there have been many studies done by physiologist, that state that colours can make you feel certain a way.
