People who work nights should have proper lighting and rest to protect their eyes. I don't think there is scientific evidence that staying up nights and sleeping days will hurt your eyes. But, going without sleep may cause eye strain that may cause damage (and crow's feet around the eyes!).
Your body needs several hours of good sound sleep most nights. Staying up occasionally may be okay. But unless you can find a place to sack out for the necessary 8 in the day light you may not be able to be active enough to keep your bod in shape.
I also just read where of two groups of people in which one group sat for 30 minutes and another group took a 30 minute stroll, the strollers more often reported feeling rested and refreshed. The sitters did not. So maybe it is not just when you spend your waking hours but also how you spend them.

If you are in the dark for extended periods of time, it can force your eyes to adjust to the situation. It's possible to lose eye sight when your eyes are exposed to no light for an extended period of time.

However, that said, staying up all night really is unrelated to that. In the modern world, we are very rarely exposed to pure darkness. With natural light from the moon, plus artificial lights completely surrounding us, it's often just as bright in our homes as it is outside.

It is wise, though, to consider what you are doing during these times. Activities, such as reading in low light, can damage your eyes as they force a strain on them. If you have proper lighting in your home, for the activities you perform, this shouldn't be a problem.

Many people survive working graveyard shifts for long periods of time, with no adverse effects. Just be sure you have the proper amount of light, be it natural or artificial, and you should be fine.

It would also be good to keep in mind, we do get a lot from the sun. If you're not going to spend any time in front of it, you might want to look into getting some vitamin D supplements/etc. If this is an extended arrangement, it might be worth speaking to a doctor about vitamins/nutrients you may be missing out on by not being in the sun.

I don't know about your eyes unless you're staying up all night on the computer or reading in a semi-dark room. That can hurt your eyes. Now staying up all night is not good for your body, because it doesn't allow it time to recharge. Your body needs sleep to repair the daily damage it gets from normal wear and tear.

It depends on how your sleep schedule is.
How much you sleep during the day.

If you get rest during the day then it should even out alright. But for the most part, its better and healthier overall to get some sleep at night.

Staying up all night won't be a big problem as long as you dont' do it constantly.

It is true. I have a short story contest coming up. The rules are you have to do it in 24 hours and you don't know the topic until they mail it to you at starting time. I need new glasses and I am NOT going to be able to stay up for 24 hours straight unless I get new glasses which I have to do. Even then your putting not only your eyes but everything under stress.

from my teacher opinion(me asking like same question), its not your eyes get smaller & weaker, if you are awake more than 18 hour, it become hard for the blood with oxygent to flow to your brain and it cause you sleepy and your mind cant work well also your eyesight will decrease drastically due to the carbon dioxide that still stuck inside your brain. so sleep actually rest up all your body part including the blood line through the brain and make it work eficiently for the next you wake up ! hope that will help you!

No, that would imply there was a life expectancy on eyes. some peoles eyes deterioate by 15 yrs old. My great grandmother could see fine at 98 yrs, she couldn't hear worth a damn, but i never saw her sleep one time. People back in the 50's didnt sleep as much as we do now.

It is bad for your body as during sleep body tends to detoxify in stages, and if you donot sleep then the chances of detoxification is reduced hence a person who sleeps less will tend to develop lot of dieases including cardiac disorders and cardiac arrest

I think it depends on how much light you have in the room you are in. Also if you get enough sleep. Sleep is very important to your body and the way you function. I hope this helps,,,
